Export produces worse output than Save
Converting sounds to low bit-depth and sample rate MP3s for data size considerations for a highly restrictive platform. Saving and Exporting at exact same settings results in files with markedly different playback quality. The exported file suffers from extreme sonic degradation over the saved method file. This is especially problematic as it cripples the use of batch processing for these files since Batch uses the Export pathway.

Actually, this appears to be a bug in Audition where saved files don't playback correctly until they are reloaded. The same file, closed, then re opened sounds drastically different (and now identical to the exported version) after the reload.
