Bug making it hard to work with multiple files. Selection range and view is persistent from one file to the next.
This used to work correctly. I can't find a preference for it. If it is a bug, please address it soon --- it has completely broken my workflow. Thanks!
To reproduce:
1. Open two audio files.
2. In file one, select a range in the waveform editor (e.g. between 1.0-1.5 seconds)
3. Double click on file two. Note that same range (e.g. 1.0-1.5 seconds) is selected in it. Now select a different range (e.g. 0.5-1.0 seconds)
4. Double click on file one. Note that new range (e.g. 0.5-1.0 seconds) is now selected in file one (not the original 1.0-1.5 seconds.)
5. Now in file one, crop the file to that selection.
6. Double click on file two etc and note that the entire view is zoomed to the duration of the file you just cropped (e.g. 0.5 seconds)
Expected behavior:
1. Open two audio files.
2. In file one, select a range in the waveform editor (e.g. between 1.0-1.5 seconds)
3. Double click on file two. Note that NO RANGE is selected. Now select a different range than in the first file (e.g. 0.5-1.0 seconds)
4. Double click on file one. Note that ORIGINAL range (1.0-1.5 seconds) is still selected in file one (not the new 0.5-1.0 seconds you just selected in file two)
5. Now in file one, crop the file to that selection.
6. Double click on file two etc and note that the view and selection range are still the same as they were when you were last in file two.
This makes working with multiple files very frustrating. As a pro audio user, I expect to be able go back and forth between multiple files with a unique selection persisting from one file to the next. Now every time I change which file I'm working on, I lose my place from when I had selected it last.

Oh nice, thank you Durin, that resolved it. I looked high and low for that and clearly missed that preference. Partly I just didn't know what wording to search for in online help.
(User feedback about list order: maybe I just started looking at "Appearance" and skipped "General" entirely because my eye goes right to "Appearance" in the menu bar. IMO lose the line that divides the sections.)

If you open Preferences in Audition and select General, is the box checked for "Synchronize selection, zoom level, and playhead across files in the Waveform editor"? If so, uncheck it and I think you'll be set.
