Hit Multitrack menu. Bam.
“Audition has encountered a fatal error and needs to shut down”
Happens Every time.
Searched the Forums and the Web. Changed the location of auto backups. Disabled Creative Cloud Syncing. Still crashes instantly upon trying to go into the multitrack editor.
Note: it seems to run fine in Waveform Editor.

Hi Durin,
I was able to get back up and running by renaming the 11.0 directory.
I have some additional crash log information. I don't know how to upload that file here. How do I get it to you?

Hi,
If you can launch Audition and select Help > Reveal Log Files, do you see any *.crash report files alongside the "Audition Log.txt" file? That log file reports any startup issues that might occur, while Windows can capture actual crash reports with detailed information about what happened.
This functionality may also be disabled in Windows, which means crash reports may not appear. In this case, you may be able to find information by clicking in the Windows search box and opening Event Viewer. There are some instructions with screenshots at https://www.digitalmastersmag.com/magazine/tip-of-the-day-how-to-find-crash-logs-on-windows-8/
If we can know more about the error details or see the full crash report, we should be able to make some more suggestions.
However, as a troubleshooting test to see, please try the following:
1. Open File Explorer and in the address bar, type: %APPDATA%
2. Open Adobe\Audition\
3. rename the 11.0 folder to something else, like 11.0.BACKUP
4. Launch AuditionThis will force Audition to reset all preferences and settings. If everything works here, my hunch would be the workspaces xml files have been corrupted or modified in some way. If that's the case, rename the old folder back and inside, rename or delete the Workspaces XML files and relaunch Audition to rebuild them again.
