BUG: Audio recording scrambled
The audio got scrambled up after a recording a voice over in the Waveform Editor. Maybe this happened after a crash (and "restore"), maybe not. Basically I was adding to the existing recording, regularly also deleting parts.
What happens is that throughout the file, parts of audio are repeated like a hanging CD, at that point overwriting the original audio.
The reason I recorded in the waveform editor was so I didn't have to make a session for only a voice over. That is what I have used the Waveform editor for a lot, for many years, and in my opinion was the power of Audition.
The last updates have made Audition so unstable and buggy that I will not use it again. Cool Edit 1.0 was more stable... Now I have to do most of it again (IN PRO TOOLS)
The essence, recording and editing audio, is what Audition seems to fail in horribly lately.

Could you send a copy of the crash report to audbugs@adobe.com so we can see why you're seeing the instability? That may also explain why recovery and continuing a recording introduces those problems. Generally, that sort of symptom only occurs when a hard drive is failing.
You can find the crash reports most easily by clicking Help > Reveal Log Files...

What I forgot to mention is that this has happened many times before, but I though it was finally fixed. I was wrong.
