  1. Create a ripple insert function (like many of your competitors have)

A function that inserts clipboard contents into a clip instead of overwriting existing content. I realize this might be a duplicate entry but it seems your customers have been asking for this feature for a LONG time and yet no priority is placed on it. So to hopefully make the thorn in the proverbial shoe bigger...

  2. Improve Spot Healing Brush Tool (stop leaving gaps of silence behind)

Using the Spot Healing Brush Tool tends to leave holes that are quieter than the surrounding audio, which is rarely what we'd want. The only time the tool truly works well is if you've recorded audio in a perfect environment with no audible noise floor. That's not how the real world typically works, though.

Just to visualize what I mean, try this:
    - Effects > Generate > Noise and Apply
    - Use the Spot Healing Brush Tool above the 1.5k range
    - notice that you're leaving holes of quietness behind wherever you paint

It would be incredible if the algorithm…

  4. Waveform Editor Grid

I would like to have the option to toggle the visibility of the Waveform Editor Grid. This feature was available in legacy versions of Audition.

  5. Variable playback speed! Double Speed Is Too Fast

I edit a lot of long audio - podcasts lasting an hour or more. I would REALLY like to be able to listen to it faster - like 1.5 speed. That would help tremendously.

  6. monitor volume in waveform editor

A monitor volume is absolutely necessary when editing in the waveform editor. No one whishes to fancy with hardware control volumes, nor change the audiofile level to adjust listening level.
Adding a little monitor volume setting in dB. the Levels pannel is no harm and would protect users ears from overloads.

  7. Retention of Applied Plugin(s) and/or Effect(s)

User should have the option to (1) close an instantiated plugin/effect/chain instance after applying (this is the current behavior). Or, (2) allow the instantiated plugin/effect/chain to remain active after applying. This would free the user from the need to constantly re-instantiate. One case example would be the use of an EQ instance to apply a surgical high-pass filter to "spot process" consistent plosives throughout a recorded piece. Bypassing the plugin/effect/chain after it's applied without physicilly closing it establishes easy (future) accessibility.

  8. Redraw waveforms.

I would like a pencil tool or something similar to redraw a waveform. Auto Heal works great, but sometimes you need to smooth out just a bit or mirror the surrounding waveform. Protools, Cubase, Sound Forge all have this functionality.

  9. insert

I would like the new punch and roll functionality to have the option (triggered by a key stroke) to insert new recorded audio, instead of overwriting which is the only option at the moment.

This means that I can't open a section of audiobook that needs pickups and insert the audio - moving the existing audio to the right. P+R can't be used to quick edits as it stands.

Behaviour should be similar to CMD+D in OcenAudio

  10. Sustain Loop Marker

I can add a loop marker, but since it's not a sustain loop marker written in smpl chunk, other software such as Sound Forge, Kontakt, or Wwise does not recognize the wave file's loop information. I'd want a loop marker to be an sustain loop marker by default, or please at least add an option to convert it into a sustain loop marker.

  11. Preview and edit position on mix-paste

It would be extremely helpful to have a preview function available on mix-paste! As it stands now, you have to complete the mix-paste to hear how it sounds, instead of previewing it to make sure you have the correct location and levels. Also, the ability to move the mix-paste position while in the mix-paste window would be extremely helpful as well!

  12. Bug making it hard to work with multiple files. Selection range and view is persistent from one file to the next.

This used to work correctly. I can't find a preference for it. If it is a bug, please address it soon --- it has completely broken my workflow. Thanks!

    To reproduce:
    1. Open two audio files.
    2. In file one, select a range in the waveform editor (e.g. between 1.0-1.5 seconds)
    3. Double click on file two. Note that same range (e.g. 1.0-1.5 seconds) is selected in it. Now select a different range (e.g. 0.5-1.0 seconds)
    4. Double click on file one. Note that new range (e.g. 0.5-1.0 seconds) is now selected in file one (not the original 1.0-1.5 seconds.) …

  13. waveform

    RE: CASE NUMBERADB-3289363-G4Q9E

Unexpected Waveform Behavior. After recording for about three minutes the Waveform no longer shows (which makes it impossible to edit!).
These are random occurrences but when it does happen I have to begin another WAV file and continue recording. Mayur, senior Adobe Advisor, had me reinstall Adobe 2017 and the waveform reappeared. Then after closing Adobe CC 2018 and reopening the file the Waveform image magically reappeared! Tis' a puzzlement.

  14. Ability to view sample values

In the waveform editor, when zooming in all the way until one can see individual samples, it used to be possible to view the actual sample value. This seems essential for a technical tool. But the support for this was removed from Audition at some point. Please bring it back!

  15. Open and see Favorites sttings

I would like to be able to see my "Favorites" just like I can see my Presets, so I can see what they actually do; in some cases, it was a while ago that I set them up so I don't t always remember. I know I can save Favorites as presets (painfully, extra work; it would be cool to have a checkbox that would let me optionally save in both places), but I don't use them the same way. I use my Presets for settings I'll want for a long time, and Favorites for effects I either use very…

  16. I would like History the list my "Favorites" or other descriptive presets, rather than the generic terms like "Parametric Eq"

See above. The idea is I'd like to know which specific preset I"ve applied, as some of mine are subtly different enough or simply subtle enough that it would be nice to be able to see what I did.

  17. BUG: Audio recording scrambled

The audio got scrambled up after a recording a voice over in the Waveform Editor. Maybe this happened after a crash (and "restore"), maybe not. Basically I was adding to the existing recording, regularly also deleting parts.

What happens is that throughout the file, parts of audio are repeated like a hanging CD, at that point overwriting the original audio.

The reason I recorded in the waveform editor was so I didn't have to make a session for only a voice over. That is what I have used the Waveform editor for a lot, for many years, and in my…

  18. Enhance Mix Paste Crossfade Algorithm to Maintain Audio Amplitude

Premiere Pro has a few different audio crossfades: Constant Power (the default), Constant Gain, and Exponential Fade.

The algorithm used to crossfade audio in Audition's "Mix Paste" seems similar to Constant Gain, but it would be much more useful to us if we could get something closer to Constant Power

Steps to hear how this issue affects audio:

    1. Open a file with consistent noise (ambient room tone, waterfall; any noise that has mostly consistent amplitude throughout) or create a new file and generate some noise

    2. Copy a portion of the noise

    3. Mix paste this copied noise atop a different section…

  19. Make it possible to select any number of ranges in the Markers pane and run effects on them

It would be so helpful if we could select one or more ranges in the Markers pane and then run effects on them, either normal effects or Favorites we set up.

  20. Highlighted (to be processed) section should be different then playback section

When processing a highlighted section, that section is being playback. This is in my case not what i want. When editing a part of a sample, let's say the punch of a kick drum, the playback is about 50 ms and that sound like a machine gun. But without playback i can't hear what i'm doing. I would like to see a function where you can loop the whole sample for playback while also hearing the highlighted part your processing. In this way you can hear what your processing does to the whole sample. Then when you're happy with the…
