camera rotation vs orientation.
Why is Orientation AND Rotation a thing? The camera tools, the new directional gizmo and everything used in the comp window affects the Orientation not rotation, WHY? There's no way to separate the dimensions of Orientation nor are there orbit counts making it a useless parameter. I don't understand why there isn't a unified way to control the rotation of a camera. Using the X or Y rotation parameters in the timeline almost never rotate the camera on the Camera's X or Y axis, they're always rotating on a skewed off-axis that make s zero sense. Even after reorienting a scene so it actually matches a logical world space that aligns with the X, Y and Z axes, it still rotates in a completely illogical way. Changing local, world or view axis modes does nothing. this makes moving, tweaking, and lining a shot in AE extremely frustrating. X, Y, and Z rotation parameters of a camera should rotate that camera on its corresponding Axis. PERIOD. second, get rid of Orientation, or at the very least, let the tools and gizmos control the camera's rotation parameters not orientation.
