BUG: multi-second delay when cutting and pasting type within AE
I've been using AE since 3.1, and never seen this before.
There's a lag when cutting and pasting type, and the pasted text only appears if I then strike a key, such as the down arrow. This is true of cutting as well: there's a lag before the cut text disappears.
I'm on a Mac M1 Studio Ultra, 128 GB memory, the font is Helvetica, and I'm pasting type created within AE, not from another doc. The comp is HD, with one layer, text-only. It happens whether the it's point or paragraph text. It happens with other fonts as well.
I typed the word "garbage," then cut it, then pasted. I waited SIXTEEN SECONDS before I gave up, hit a down arrow key, then the pasted word appeared. One word, one layer.
The same thing happens when I cmd+A select all type on the layer, then hit delete. No change until I hit a key -- then the text disappears.
BUT it does work normally if I create a new text layer, then paste. Immediate response. But if I select text in that new layer, and try to cut/paste, I see the delay.
Add to new layer? Fine. Modify existing layer? Delay.
Also, cmd+tabbing out to another app, and then back into AE triggers a response. So simply pasting does not update the display.
(It's not the keyboard -- I switched from an MX keys to an Apple wired kbd. It happens in Rosetta and native.) OS 12.3.1. AE 22.4.0.
