Render Queue Complete Notifications Time Limits & Options

The new Render Complete Notifications are amazing for being able to take breaks, but they can steal focus far too often if rendering out comps that are fast - a couple user settable preferences would be incredible.

The following are my requests for options:
- allow the user to set a maximum frequency for notifications
- only notify on full queue completion instead of for each comp
- if a queue will take less than estimated [user input time limit], only notify on completion of full queue.

I could see these living in the Preferences panel, or directly in the Render Queue window

This request brought to you by my outputting roughly 1000 variations of the same composition with a 5 second / composition render time.

    Hello Brent,

    There is a global preference under Preferences->Notifications
    "Automatically enable notifications when you add a composition to the Render Queue"
    If you do not wish to automatically have notifications for each item in your RQ, you can uncheck this preference. This will make it so that the checkbox in the notify column of the render queue is not automatically checked on adding to the queue.

    We do not however have a throttle mechanism or a smart estimate mechanism from your first and third suggestions. We can bring that in to discuss as potential quality of life features.

    Thanks Brian! That's certainly a nice workaround for now.

    I still maintain that it'd be a much nicer UX to be able to set a global preference - one less thing to think about at rendertime(tm) is one less mistake to make :)

    Hi Brent

    There is a "Notify" checkbox in the Render Queue panel for each Render Queue item, the column is just hidden by default. It still requires you to make your choice for an item before rendering, but hopefully this will help your notifications more pleasing.

    (And of course, you can select all your Render Queue items and enable/disable item notifications at once.)
