open multiple comps from render queue again PLEASE!
Selecting more than one comp in the render queue and double clicking no longer opens all the Comps, just one.
Please ensure this is fixed soon.
I assume this is a bug, like the Effects panel no longer opening when you double click a layer, and that you will be reinstating some of this basic functionality in the next point updates
As long as the scripts and expressions work I am happy!
I am sure there was a good reason for no longer remembering which comp you had clicked into, so I forgive the team, but it was a long long time before Icould navigate around comps again. Go into PreComp, get lost on the way back out, render the wrong comp.
And don't get me started on not letting the user turn off the incremental numbering BS!
Thanks for help but it is just normal render.
Regardless of what I have the preference set to, I have to specify the render location every time.
My drive never sleeps but it seems After Effects can't locate it.
Even if I render to it, then send another comp to the render queue, I still have to tell it where to render to.
What I have is a Render folder. So every time I open any After effects project it renders to its previous location, that render folder, and yet this version, only from the latest update, has to be told every time, hence it being a bug.
I have to admit, 10 years back is before my time on the team. I checked in After Effects 11 ( CS6 ) but still couldn't open multiple comps by double-clicking them in the RQ, so consider this an official feature request. It may have worked in a prior version, but it must have been before my time in a pre-CS6 version.
Could you describe more about the "going back to previous comp when closing a comp"? This also sounds like it might have been before my time. We do strive not to take away functionality, but a lot has changed in After Effects in the last decade and there may have been technical reasons for that feature to be removed, though they aren't always communicated well to all customers.
Regarding the render location bug, is that having to do with render tokens or the file browsing window opening to an unwanted location?
For reference, this is a report of the token issue: https://adobe-video.uservoice.com/forums/911311/suggestions/36084937
And here is a request always opening the file browser to the location of the project: https://adobe-video.uservoice.com/forums/911311/suggestions/34493974

To be fair it might have been back ten years ago, back when you took away going back to previous comp when closing a comp! It would be useful though as you can effectively use the render panel as a way to sort render comps from all over the project. I never use the effects and presets panel because it has always been so slow compared to third party solutions or just using the menu bar. Thanks for fixing the effect panel opening when adding an effect but I have had to relocate it anyway now. NOw just need to fix the render location bug. I have a render folder I render every single thing to to save time, but now I have to select it every single time
Thank you for making this bug report. Could you provide a screen recording from a previous version of After Effects showing the functionality you're describing when double-clicking comps in the Render Queue? In previous versions, we aren't able to double-click to open multiple comps consistently, so there might have been an existing issue that was made worse in a recent update.
Regarding the issue of the Effects panel no longer opening when a layer is double-clicked, could you clarify if you mean the Effect Controls panel or Effects & Presets panel? We are not able to see either of those panels opening when double-clicking a layer to open it in the Layer panel in previous versions. There was a bug fixed recently where the Effect Controls panel was not opening when an effect was applied to a layer, is that perhaps what you are referring to? This was fixed in After Effects 22.3.
Thank again for reporting these issues and for any further information you can provide,
