Allow access to Source Text / Value
I remember that some versions ago we could access the 'value' of Source Text via the context menu. But it is grey now, which makes it hard to edit empty text objects (i.e. when those were drive by an expression, but now need to be edited manually). Clicking in the canvas is no serious and reliable option, when the Text Layer already exists.
Please make this value accessible again.
In an effort to improve communications between you and the After Effects team, we are moving this feedback forum to the After Effects page on the Adobe Support Community. As requested, bugs and feature requests will be able to live separately in that forum. If you have an item here that did not make the migration, please bring it over to our new home.
See you soon on the Adobe Support Forum!
Thank you for reporting this issue. In the latest released version After Effects 22.0.1, I don't see the "Edit Value..." command greyed out in the context menu when right-clicking a Source Text property. Is this the same version you are using?
There is a possibility that Source Text converted from PSD files or projects migrated from previous versions may have this issue. Do you see this same behavior on all Source Properties in all projects? Do you see it when creating new Text layers in the latest version of AE?
Thanks very much for any further information,
- John, After Effects Engineering Team
