BUG: Cant paste text from other apps into After Effects
Since the last update I cant paste text from other apps (browser, word, etc) into After Effects. Looks like AE doesnt recognize I have something in my clipboard. CTRL+V doesnt work, if I go to "edit" the paste option is greyed out.
Using latest AE (v18.4) on Windows 10.
If I revert to v18.2.1 everything works as it should.
This bug has been fixed in the latest version of After Effects 2021 ( 18.4.1 ). See https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/kb/fixed-issues.html.
Please install the latest version and let us know if you are continuing to see issues with pasting from other applications. You should no longer need to use the workaround of opening After Effects first before selecting a project file; pasting into Text layers should work when opening AE by double-clicking a project file.
Thank you all again for reporting this issue,

AE 18.4 only recognize internal clipboard. You can copy and paste anything inside AE. Everything from outside (other softwares, etc.) doesn't work.

I just upgraded to 18.4 and I have the same problem. I can't paste text inside AE.

This is true of not only text, but anything from another app into After Effects, including Premiere. Audio clips, video clips, anything from the timeline or the media bins cannot be pasted into an after effects project or comp.

When copy and pasting text into AE nothing pastes. Only started happening when I updated to 18.4 a few days ago. You can only copy and paste text that was already typed in the file previously.

Same problem!!!1 18.4
I cannot reproduce this on my end on a PC system.
AE vers 18.4 and 17.7 both installed still. Tested both. No related issue seen.

Same issue here! After the last update, copy text from one application to AE is broken.

I am having the same issue. After updating AE to 18.4.0 (Build 41), when I try copying and pasting (right clicking or shortcut keys) from any other program, it won't paste into the text box created in AE. I've tried deleting preferences, restarting, creating new file, etc. but it still won't paste.
