No preview playback under 5 fps
In After Effects CC2020 (Windows 10), I get no playback when I set the preview frame rate below 5. At 5 fps the preview works, anything below it doesn't.

Thanks for checking. I tried a few different projects and the minimum framerate under which no playback varies, it was 5 for this particular project, 3 for another and 2 for another. The actual project frame rate is 25. It is a sequence that will end up as a GIF animation at 2 fps, so I thought I'd check it out in After Effects just to discover that it didn't play there.
Thank you for reporting this issue. Unfortunately, we aren't able to reproduce what you're describing; setting the Frame Rate in the Preview panel to values less than 5 still plays back on our test machines in a composition with FPS set to 24 or 29.97.
What is the FPS of your composition? And is the goal to play the composition back more slowly or to preview fewer frames? The "Skip" parameter in the Preview panel allows for the preview of fewer frames.
Thanks very much for any additional info you can provide,
