mpeg 2 video failing to import
Version 17.1.3 is no longer importing MPEG 2 Long GOP HDV 720P footage. I have older footage from a JVC GY HD250 that still opens in Premiere, but the After Effects project will no longer conform the footage. So, I open AE to check the project, to find that footage, and any MPEG 2 I try to import, will import without error, but only displays black. Brand new Wintel machine with RTX 2080 super card. Other AE projects work fine, just not ones with this footage. Any workaround? I don't even think I can re-render the footage in Media Encoder, as AE will eventually lock up when trying to handle the MPEG 2 footage.
In an effort to improve communications between you and the After Effects team, we are moving this feedback forum to the After Effects page on the Adobe Support Community. As requested, bugs and feature requests will be able to live separately in that forum. If you have an item here that did not make the migration, please bring it over to our new home.
See you soon on the Adobe Support Forum!
Thank you for reporting this issue. Are you still seeing this behavior in the latest version of AE? If so, would you be able to provide us a sample of the MPEG 2 footage which doesn't import?
Thanks for any further information,
- John, After Effects Engineering Team
