BUG: Expression "Drop-Down" menu the word "Menü" changes to "Men," in german version when saved on a PC and opened on a Mac
I worked on the german version of After Effects CC20 on a PC, when i saved the project and opened it in the german Version on the Mac in the "Drop-Down"-Menu the word "Menü" has changed to "Men," which brakes the Expressions, so there seems to be a problem with the german letter "ü" when saved on PC and opened on a Mac. Manual FIX: I could fix it by duplicating the "Drop-Down"Menu, the duplicate than automatically inserts the word "Menü" correctly.

Hi Felix! Thanks for reporting this issue. This is due to known limitations of unicode support in After Effects that we hope to address in the future. There is a workaround though. If you set up your expression as an index this problem can be avoided. If you are unfamiliar with indexed expressions you can try it out by holding down alt when pickwhipping. That way it will write an expression with an index. This way you can move the project from Mac to Win and vice versa.
Here is a great article with more info on indexed expressions

Hi,
I'm using the Drop Down Menu Control as an effect for a control layer with a german Version of After Effects on Windows and Mac. When switching the project between Mac and Windows I get an expression Error. It seems that there is a problem with the "ü" in the Property "Menü". I tested it now on 2 seperate Windows-Systems and 2 Mac-Systems which have all installed the german version of 17.5.1 and it's alway the same behaviour. When I save the project from Windows it converts "Menü" to "Men," and if I save it on a Mac and open it on Windows it will convert it from "Menü" to "MenŸ"
The expression itself would keep searching always for "Menü" and this results in an error.

PLEASE FIX AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!
The same bug appears when you save a project on a MAC in the german AfterEffects version and try to open it on a Windows-PC. Since i am working for a huge german TV station on switching the old Essential Graphics Library from CC18 Legacy Engine to CC20 Java-Engine for all TV shows in the next 2-3 weeks, since this may cause a lot of problems with our libraries - I need a fix yesterday. This should be an easy fix an implemented tomorrow
