Flowchart - why does it exist
WHY IS THIS STILL HERE - if it has a purpose, please do a tutorial explaining why this has been getting in my way for over 10 years.

The flowchart is actually very useful, though I do admit that it could be more so.
For one, it can provide an intuitive, visual representation of project item dependencies. One might use this to quickly gather related items into folders, or to check that changes in a comp aren't going to affect other items in an unexpected way.
It's also possible to quickly open deeply nested items directly from the flowchart, which can save a good deal of hunting for the right element.
Personally I'd love to see the flowchart evolve to include node-based compositing functionality, and there are suggestions in this forum to that effect.
