GPU Accelerate or Overhaul of 'Basic 3D'
Basic 3D has been the same since as long as I can remember using after effects. I think it has gone from v1.0 to maybe v1.1 in the 10+ years I've been using the program.
At this point I actively avoid enabling the 3D switch because it can take a project that is rendering very quickly to it's knees because the 3D calculations seem to happen on a single core and don't take advantage of the GPU (if task manager is to be believed.)
-Make Classic 3D 2.0 and make it run on the GPU
-Accelerate Camera DOF on GPU (I know Photoshop has a very nice lens blur that runs on the GPU steal that)
-Get rid of age old bugs and improve 3D quality. (layers popping over other layers at a certain camera distance, having to use an adjustment layer to correctly display layer order, other myriad problems)
2.5D is an amazing tool, I'm not asking for full 3D, as Adobe tried that with the Ray-traced renderer and we all know how that went. Just asking for a modern update to the 2.5 D to make it actually usable in 2020.
