Please make Z axis not change the size.
I just want to have different layers in a composition at different z axis orders. It changes the size of my layer though which ruins my whole illustration. Why can't I turn off the rescaling? Shouldn't this be a simple option to add?
In an effort to improve communications between you and the After Effects team, we are moving this feedback forum to the After Effects page on the Adobe Support Community. As requested, bugs and feature requests will be able to live separately in that forum. If you have an item here that did not make the migration, please bring it over to our new home.
See you soon on the Adobe Support Forum!
Toon Boom has button that allows you to align objects on the z-axis without changing their scale or position. A simple matter that saves a lot of time and avoids the senseless mechanical work that a computer should make. Adobe can't do that.

When moving your layer on the Z axis, you are moving it in depth, that's why you see it shrink or grow depending if you're moving in the front or in the back.
Depending on your need, you can either use an expression on the scale parameter of your layer to keep their scale relative:
cam = thisComp.activeCamera;
distance = length(sub(position, cam.position));
scale * distance / cam.zoom;
Or you can keep your layer 2D and use tools like the 2D camera tool of the open-source 3rd party tool DUIK Bassel to simulate paralax.
Depending on your need, one solution or the other might better fit your workflow.
Hope this helps,
