Illustrator lets the user choose between exact sizes for Dashes and Gaps, or approximate those to distribute Dashes evenly and create nice even corners. See screengrabs. The square left is without correction enabled, the right one is after enabling the corner correction.

That would be a great addition to Ae to make the Dashed Stroke more usefull.
