Individual Comp Settings Render Path
This is something that has bugged me for years. I open a project, render. Hop into a different project. Add to Render Queue. Now all of my settings are pointing to the other projects render paths...
I work for an advertising agency and I am constantly rendering work for multiple clients. When going back and forth the only way to retain output paths is to duplicate the item in the render queue. Why? Each composition should have the option within the -- Composition Settings -- to set a render path. When you duplicate the comp, the render path stays. This seems like a simple concept but I am sure is more complicated on the back end.
I want to be able to add a render path to the comp, within comp settings. This way when I send to render queue I know it is going to the right place without having to constantly click on modules, outputs, and so on. This would save so much time!! When duplicating the comp to version up...the path stays with the new comp name allowing for fast and convenient incrementing.
Anyways, thanks for reading!

Yes Yes! This has bothered me for years and I don't know if this has been addressed in the latest release or not. But I work on multiple client projects within a day. I wish the PATH would stay with the project. meaning the "Location" of my renders. That way, when I open Client A's project, it will always renders to the Client A folder that I've already designated instead of Client B's project that I just closed. Currently the way it works is that it points to the 'last location' that AE rendered to. Instead of correlating with the Project designated folder. Which means I have to re-choose the render path for each project, duplicate the last comp rendered in the queue or just locate the newly rendered file and manually move it into the Client folder that it should go with. If you need more clarification, please let me know.... Thank you for all you do!

Interesting David. I need to find a way to "attach" information to composition to be able to save information such as the filepath of where to render and add that feature to AfterCodecs for After Effects https://autokroma.com/AfterCodecs/
Not sure how to achieve that yet

Hey Tim,
Thanks for the quick response!
I can see how this would work, but this is not quite what I had in mind.
If I have 5+ major clients, and Im working on 5+ videos for each client at any given time. This would be 25+ templated paths that are only relevant during the project duration.
With the various clients and number of videos/deliverables per client I would have too many templates. This wont save me time in the long run.
If this was attached to the comp settings then when I send it to the render queue my file path is already applied. When I duplicate or version up (rename) the comp it would retain that file path as opposed to selecting the template every time.
Honestly all of the render settings could also live in the comp settings. I understand this would be more work up front but it would completely eliminate the need to check my render settings before rendering. This would also be great if I have a handful of animators under me. They would already have render paths loaded into the settings.

Hi David,
You can currently use templates that automatically name your rendered files, including the comp name, file path, and other naming options; as described here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/using/basics-rendering-exporting.html#specify_filenames_and_locations_for_rendered_outputDoes this solve the problem you're describing, or do you desire some additional functionality?
