After Effects 2020 Much Much SLOWER
Was working with 2020 for 5 min.
Out of the box in comparison seam to be slower on a comp of a resolution of 5400x1080, as compares to AE 2019.
Certainly twice(!!!!) slower from AE 2019 in reading JPG SEQ res:5400x1080.
Did not checked it further.
Both Apps synced with their preferences.
Both of them have the Cache option disabled.

It's SO much slower. Premiere Pro is much slower too. I'm almost impressed by how much worse each release is. Clearly an annual update cycle is too much

HI,
It was a seq. rendered by ae2019, JPEG 8.
measuring process is by "feelings", it is way more than twice slower.
But for scientific measures I rendered them both to a new seq.
100 frames took in 2019: 33sec 2020: 80sec
I Have I7 6800k and Nvidia 1080 up to date with studio pack drivers on WIN10 64bit.
The render was done from a RAID drive to another one which is M.2.Initializing Comps and plugins also feels slower in the preview window, but after couple of minutes it seams that 2020 is increasing speed to match 2019.
2019 ver: 16.1.2
2020ver: 17.0 -

Hmm, I just did a sequence read test using a 30 second 5400x1080 JPEG sequence, and AE 17.0 Mac was about 7% faster than 16.1.3.
If this problem is persisting for you, could you provide more specific details as to how you are encountering it. Platform and OS? Exact type of JPEG you are reading? How exactly are you measuring the difference between the two? Etc.?
Thx!
