[BUG + FIX] Commands being removed from keyboard shortcut editor
BUG: Occasionally unbinding commands with the in-app keyboard editor will remove the command as an option entirely from the keyboard editor for that specific .txt file. From my understanding, when this bug occurs, the command line in question is purged from the .txt file and therefore cannot be assigned in-app.
FIX: Opening up another .txt without the missing command line, and copying and pasting it, in order, with all formatting considerations applied will bring the keybind back into the app.

I just tried the method below posted by Anonymous and it worked but not only is this a SUPER BUG that sneaks up on you without you even realizing it but it also takes so long to fix because the text file does not use the same name as the keyboard shortcut panel does. So you really need to know what you're looking for. For ex: "Go back 1 frame" from the keyboard panel is "stepback" in the text file.
Also, as pointed out, my two text files are different sizes which means that I am missing keyboard shortcut that I don't even know about and unless I know what they're called in the old text file then I can't even add them back in. This would take hours, if not even days to fix!!!
ADOBE, WTF???

I just had that EXACT same thing happen to me.
HOW IS THIS NOT AT THE TOP OF THE BUG LIST??! I now have to try and figure out if I can edit the text file because this is beyond ridiculous!!

Here is some more information for Adobe Developers.
If I remove H key for Hand tool, and click ok:
"ToolHand" = "()" is saved in the file.Load up the editor - and Hand Tool command is missing.
Click ok again.
"ToolHand" = "()" line is deleted from the file!I have noticed that command remains readable (and settable) in the Visual Editor if the line is changed to:
"ToolHand" = ""

This is a huge bug which makes the Visual Keyboard Editor not fit for purpose. Also the big issue is most users will not notice the problem as commands disappear subtly from the file. So if this is the forum to report a BIG BUG, does it depend now on popularity/votes ? I feel this should be flagged to the coders for the editor immediately.

This is worse than expected... each time I do this - the command is erased from the shortcuts file.
Win 7 x 64 and AE Version 15.1.2 (2018)
I am having a frustrating issue, moving from AE 2014 to 2018. I am manually setting up shortcuts as I like them in the new editor. The issue is for some commands, if I remove the short cut, the command disappears after I save the keys. So if I assign "Take snapshot 1" to nothing and save the keys and reopen editor, that command disappears!
Even when I go into the text file, I can see that the line has been removed! Furthermore I can see that
AppData\Roaming\Adobe\After Effects\15.1\aeks\After Effects Default.txt = 27.5kb
AppData\Roaming\Adobe\After Effects\15.1\aeks\AlanEddieKeys2.txt = 21kbThe smaller filesize indicating the more I change shortcuts the more lines are deleted from the file, this is a huge issue, rendering the shortcut editor not fit for purpose. (I can't believe, there isn't more talk about this.)
So as I unassign a command it is actually deleting the line from the keyboard shortcut file, which disables the command from appearing in the shortcut editor!
