Remove keybind restrictions
Certain custom keyboard shortcuts cannot be customized. For example, I want to remap the Selection tool to the "A" key. After Effects does not allow this to happen.
I am able to make this change in Premiere Pro and Photoshop, and would appreciate if the same can be done in After Effects by removing these restrictions.
In an effort to improve communications between you and the After Effects team, we are moving this feedback forum to the After Effects page on the Adobe Support Community. As requested, bugs and feature requests will be able to live separately in that forum. If you have an item here that did not make the migration, please bring it over to our new home.
See you soon on the Adobe Support Forum!
@andrew Thanks a lot! Your idea to edit the .txt file directly, worked!
To make this searchable - Here's how to circumvent / fix the " That key may not be reassigned " problem.

You'll have to replace "13gpu" with your own username.
And my current text file of shortcuts is called:
taran 4 - AE keyboard.txt
but yours will be different.
Then I just opened that file in a notepad, and changed a few lines, like so:

An update: I was able to circumvent these keybind restrictions by modifying the .txt file the keyboard shortcuts are saved to.
A fully-customizable keyboard shortcut menu. No more "this key cannot be re-mapped". If Premiere can support this functionality, there is no reason why AE needs immobile (and extremely unintutive) key mappings.
Please and thank you.
