Preserve gradients from Illustrator to After effects shape layers
It would be lovely to be able to preserve the gradient and/or blending mode of illustrator files when you convert them to shape layers in AE.

Facing the same problem. Converting a simple shape layer with a gradient imported from Illustrator into AE shape using command Create>Create Shapes from Vector Layer doesn't keep the color information of the gradient,- it turns into a flat grey shape.

I don't understand why this isn't a thing!!

I don't understand why this site exists, except as a way for Adobe to push off any discussion they don't want to have with a "enter your ideas here" macguffin. I've seen posts about this (YES, I NEED IT TOO!) since at least 2016. Nothing. Zilch. Goose eggs. Nada.
Nobody creates lower-thirds or banners with Photoshop--everyone will use Illustrator and we need to be able to import opacity and gradient information into After Effects as part of our compositing workflow. At least tell us something is in the works!!!

It's a shame it isn't available yet, just saying. Lost of some parameters from previously created files is really painful to work with - because I need to recreate gradients each time I want to animate an object.
