Remember output folder for every project
My life would be days longer if After effects was able to render to the same folder the project rendered to last time instead of switching to the last place chosen regardless of wether it was a different project file (which makes no sense to me)
Having to work quickly on multiple projects in the same timeframe leaves me with scatterer render files that swell the hard drive and take an age to sort through down the line.

Have you used the output name and location templates in After Effects? These can automate where the render queue exports to, including locations relative to the project file.

Jumping between project on a daily basic, it is actually a big source of error when the destination of your render is the last project you where in. This has always been a hassel.

YES! This should be built in. We shouldn't have to use a work around.
this post is from 2018 and Adobe still haven't taken care of this?Simply just remember where a project last wrote to.
How much code could it take?

how can I render a project without the "output to" name appearing on the finished video.?Please.

@Nick R. - Sorry, no, there's not currently a built-in method to force new projects or the Save As command to default to a particular folder. (You could rig something up with scripting, but there's nothing in the UI.) That would be a great, separate request. Please file it here at this UserVoice site!

Is there any way to use the output name and location templates for saving the actual AE project file? I always end up with project files in the wrong folders because it defaults to the previously opened project for the Save As dialogue since it was last used. Being able to just have Save As start in relation to the file currently open would be nice, and hopefully something already in the program that I just didn't now about.

@Tim - thanks for the tip - completely overlooked this feature until seeing your note. It's amazing being able to use relative paths - this is like having the token function from C4D!
I've set up the following templates:
-- For renders directly from AE --
[projectFolder]\..\03_deliverables\[dateYear]-[dateMonth]-[dateDay]\[compName].[fileextension]-- For renders sent to AME (I.E. "Queue in AME") --
[projectFolder]\..\..\03_deliverables\[dateYear]-[dateMonth]-[dateDay]\[compName].[fileextension](There's a second "..\" to navigate out of the AME folder that's used by AE to send the comp to AME for render, otherwise you may get an error message or the render won't be in the expected location.)

I used to use name/location templates. They sort of work but that assumes you always use the same folder structure for every project/client. I also had some cases where it didn't work as expected so I gave up on the feature.
