Edit text from Photoshop file directly in After Effects
It would be great if after importing a Photoshop file you could edit the text directly in After Effects. This is a feature you can already do in Premiere Pro but would be great if you could do it in After Effects as well.

Thank you for filing this request.
This is already possible. In After Effects, you can convert a Photoshop text layer into an After Effects text layer: right-click on the layer in the Timeline panel, then choose Create > Convert to Editable Text.
More information is here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/using/creating-editing-text-layers.html#convert_text_from_photoshop_to_editable_text
If this functionality doesn’t meet your needs, please file a new request with more detail about how you’d like After Effects to behave with text in a PSD file.

Why is it like that anyway? Since you would edit /animate the text layers it would be just easyer to have a "import text layers as editable" checkbox when importing a psd. The mentioned procedure is tedious for lots of text layers in different comps
