BUG: Install Script... causes endless window popups, cancel button doesn't work
BUG - After selecting Install Script.. from the menu, an endless amount of popup windows occured. Pressing cancel does nothing. I had to End Process via task manager to stop it and relaunch. Please fix.
AE CC 2019, Win10

This bug was fixed in the April 2019 release of After Effects (version 16.1). You can install this release via the Creative Cloud desktop application.

Same problem, Windows 10 64bit.
Expected: after installing script the dialog should disappear.
Observed: after selecting jsx script, the "choose file" dialog reappears, and when dismissed returns again in an infinte loop.
Steps to reproduce: choose File>Scripts>Install Script menu. -

Seems to be a bug, not sure if it's specific to my machine or specific to this version of CC19. Not a huge issue, just a slight inconvenience. After installing a ScriptUI file (via File --> Scripts --> Install ScriptUI Panel), the explorer dialog pops back up, ready to select another file. Has to be closed repeatedly (sometimes 10+ times) before it stays closed and I can return to After Effects.

Same problem. Adding a jsx script from File>Scripts>Install Script File continues to re-open dialog box after script has been installed. Cancel ineffective. Had to force quit.

Extractor Plugin window doesn't close anymore on AE CC2019

Thanks for the files, Sean. I've forwarded them, and your comments, to the developer investigating the problem. (Sorry for the long delay in replying. It's been a busy week.)

Hey Tim,
I just sent over the log files. I cleared out my scripts folder first to make sure that it wasn't an issue of a script already being installed. I tried installing them both from CC2018's script folder and a random folder on my desktop, but that didn't seem to matter.
I seemed to only run into the issue when I was installing a script with a project already open. If i did it immediately after opening AE, it wouldn't happen, but if I open a project and try, it would start the loop.
I installed a normal script file with the Install Script File command. I hadn't tried a panel or the Install ScriptUI Panel command.
Also, the scripts were getting installed, just to my User's scripts folder not the system one, so I wasn't used to that. So that's not an issue, just I forgot there's multiple places they can go.

Sean, you can send files to aebugs@adobe.com. Post back here when you send them. (I have to go check that inbox manually.)
One of our engineers was able to reproduce the problem, but it only occurred if he was installing a script that was already installed as a ScriptUI panel and open and docked in the workspace.
When you install these scripts, are you only selecting ones that you haven't previously installed? Which command in the File > Scripts menu are you choosing (Install Script File or Install ScriptUI Panel) and does it match whether you want the file to appear as a ScriptUI panel?

I'll try to make that logging file for you. Could you send me the private address?
I was actually installing scripts from CC2018, but the same thing has happened when installing from Downloads or Desktop.

Sean, thanks for the screen recording. One thing I notice in your video is that you appear to be choosing scripts that are already installed (from the /Applications/Adobe After Effects CC 2019/Scripts folder). While this in and of itself shouldn't cause a problem (the script should be successfully copied to your user preferences folder), is there a reason you are doing this? Does the problem occur when you choose scripts from a different location?
I'd also like to ask for an After Effects log file:
1. Choose Help > Enable Logging. (Note that this option will automatically disable after 24 hours.)
2. Restart After Effects.
3. Cause the problem to happen.
4. Choose Help > Reveal Logging File.
5. Grab the After Effects Log.txt file. You can post it here, post a link, or I can give you a private address to send it to if you prefer.

I'm running into the same issue on macOS 10.12.6 and AE Version 16.0.0
Getting an infinite number of file dialogs after installing a script. Pressing Escape or Cancel closes the box, only to have another one open. Tried to do a screen record but naturally it stopped misbehaving when i was recording. Only thing that changed was I had closed my project, and installing with an empty unsaved project didn't make extra dialog boxes. Once i had a comp in there it started acting up again. (only had to hit escape twice this time, but still). I can interrupt it with Cmd+S or Cmd+Shift+S.
All this being said. I also noticed that After Effects wasn't even installing the scripts!
