Bug report, Enabling grid cases extreme Latency. After effects 2019.
With a simple click on anything I get a the color wheel and about 5 seconds before that click is acknowledged. Thus far I have only experienced this when grid is enabled. AE 2019 IMAC running mojave and 40gb ram. I used AE 2018 yesterday and did not have this problem. This is making it impossible to use. I will have to revert back to 2018.

This bug was fixed in the December 2018 release of After Effects CC (version 16.0.1). You can install this release via the Creative Cloud desktop application.
A list of bugs fixed in After Effects 16.0.1 can be found here: https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/kb/fixed-issues.html

Had this problem in AE 2018, not with grid but with guides. An update resolved it. Now it's back with AE 2019 (16.1.1). No matter if I use 2 guides or 50, system slows to a crawl. Just upgraded to AE 2019 (16.1.3). Still there!!!Perhaps it's gone from AE 2020. Unfortunately have to get sys admin to install

@Bryan Dawson - The fix for this is already available in the December 2018 release of After Effects CC (version 16.0.1). You can install this release via the Creative Cloud desktop application.

I dont have luxury of rolling back to 2018 as company made the upgrade. My mid 2012 macbook pro that worked great on '18 and first '19 rollout, now will not playback no matter what settings i use. Hoping Adobe will not delay on this fix.

AE v. 16.0.1 released on 2019-01-11 seems to have fixed this bug (I'm using High Sierra 10.13.6). So yay.

Same issue with After Effects CC v 16.0.0 Grid makes everything unusable. Struggled to even be able to turn it off - lagged extremely slowly when trying to use quick key to turn off

Same issue with After Effects CC 2019 v16.0.0 (build 235). Turn on grid and everything slows to unusable. Turn off grid and it works fine.

Having the same issue, Imac Pro 2017 3.2 xeon W, 32GB RAM , 8GB Radeon pro vega. This is insane, seems like such a simple direct issue. Someone please fix!

This is ridiculous, guys. You mean to tell me that in your "intensive" Alpha and Beta testing no one turned on the grid?I've been freaking ******* my head against a wall trying to operate in Ae since the update. So annoying that something so small can hang up a "professional" piece of software.

Working on a iMac Pro 2017 running Mojave 10.14
Newest version of AE, 16.0.0If I turn on the green overlay grid the whole program locks up really bad. Feels like a crash but just beachballs and reacts extremely slowly until I'm able to carefully turn it back off again and then everything is fine.

I'm also having this problem, on a deadline. Can't believe the most basic thing like a grid view won't work. I'm having to go back to CC2018 to meet my deadline.

Having exactly the same issue. Can't imagine even trying to use the grid until a fix comes along – it's completely unworkable.
