More advanced 3D Tracker
After Effects needs a 3D tracking tool were we can help the algorithmen in a advanced mode.
-Set relations between points (distance, line, flat surface ect.)
-Lens distortion
-Object-tracking
-Export/Import to other applications.

3D Tracking (Matchmoving) means analysing 2D video footage. You need it in every compositing were the camera is moving free!
So it has nothing to do with 3D modelling! and most time you place only 2D cards in space with no need of any 3D model. AE and every compositing tool has its 3D tracker but the AE version is very basic without any advanced options. -

The idea of Adobe is very good, having all the functions of postproduction and other disciplines in a single ecosystem of applications.
I have little experience with the Cinema 4D tracker, but it has not given me bad results, especially with the R19 that has scene reconstruction (and Cine 4D R20 has an even more powerful tracker).

@ Pablo
i know you love to outsource everything from a Compositing Software😆. And yes, 2010 3D Matchmover where Standalone Products like you prefer it with ever Tool. And it was realy painful to switch every time and load extra scripts to import it. But thanx god we are now in 2018 and every Compositing (where every discipline comes together) has its own 3D Matchmover, Keyer, Particlesystem, Rendere 3D Space/Engine , Animation-Tools etc.
So yes it makes totaly sense to give advanced artists more options if they are needed ;-) otherwise AE will be soon a toy for beginner only ;-)PS: Cinema 3D Tracker is not realy good or advanced!

Yeah, such as Cinema 4D.
