Super annoying bug - missing layers in timeline
Experiencing a particularly annoying bug; timeline shows only 43 out of about 260 layers. Yet preview will scrub and playback full project. So I can watch the full project, I just can't access or see most of the layers.
In an effort to improve communications between you and the After Effects team, we are moving this feedback forum to the After Effects page on the Adobe Support Community. As requested, bugs and feature requests will be able to live separately in that forum. If you have an item here that did not make the migration, please bring it over to our new home.
See you soon on the Adobe Support Forum!

I am encountering this issue right now when using the "Pastiche" plugin, though I'm not sure if this is the cause.
I'm using AE CC 2022 on a new M1 MacBook Pro and the maximum number of layers for the Pastiche plugin is 3000.
However, layers while visible in the left-most window are indicated, they are missing in the timeline
itself after about a 1000 layers or so.
If this is an issue that had been noted since 2019 and has yet to be fixed than I'm quite surprised given the high cost of subscription for Adobe CC.
Kindly fix it.

Is this ever going to be fixed?
I know this is an old thread but I’m getting a layer glitch issue similar to this and this thread is the only example I can find online. The layer in question is a pre-comp with a tiff sequence and a disabled C4D file. Have rebooted my computer and reopened the project, everything was working fine then it happened again. And this is not the only layer or comp that is having this issue. This particular comp only has 4 layers. Never had this issue in 15 years of using after effects. Have I done something completely stupid..?
Thank you, Tim! I appreciate your help.
I can't shy layers I'm not working with, because the full layers aren't showing up. I just can't access more than 43 layers to do anything with - pre-compose or re-organize or anything. Here is a video of what I see when I'm trying to work with this file.
