Project specific render locations
Been requesting this simple feature for like 8 years. People work on multiple projects a day- they have different render locations per project, but After Effects globally uses the last place you saved no matter what project is opened. Each project ALWAYS renders to the same place and it's different per project. I can't possibly think where it's useful for 99% of workflow. My entire day is hunting for my render folders whenever I switch between projects. I force my employees to request this feature, I've been requesting this feature, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SAVE US. Project. Specific. Render. Locations.

Totally, we could have a option to define a relative render folder to the aep location.
for example, I have a 01_aep folder and a 09_renders at my root for every project.
If I could set Media encoder to always go back a folder and render in it like we did on DOS back in the day: "../09_render" it would save me tons of time.
Also, every time I ask ME to overwrite files automatically it fails, might be a windows permission thing but could you also force it to always overwrite them files?

YES! This is sooooo annoying, as I am frequently working on multiple AE and PP projects each day, and ALWAYS have to navigate my Mac Finder to locate where I want to save AE project versions and renders.
If Premiere Pro can remember where associated project saves are, why can't After Effects?

Could not agree more!!
My favorite part is that no matter how many times you select the folder for a project you are on, it never remembers it and requires you to select the output folder every time a new render is sent to AME.
Personally, I would rather have it just by default save in the SAME LOCATION AS THE PREVIOUS RENDER. This as opposed to AME automatically saving to the "_AME" folder within your project file.
As others have said C4D, Firefox, and I believe other Adobe software like PSD and AI default save location to the previously saved location.
Adobe you already got it right just make it universal across your platforms!!!
I agree. Looking at what Steve posted as well, that's just too complicated. It should be like Cinema 4d where the file renders to the project file automatically it should not be writing psuedo-code to get that to work.
It would be a nice feature.

This already exists, but isn't obvious:
You can make custom location paths based off where your .aep is saved. Example, to a "renders" folder next to your .aep:
Or even outside the project folder like this. The double periods tells it to jump one folder up:
Unfortunately you can't export and load these templates like Render/Output modules.
