Bring back 'System Default Audio Device' as option in Audio Hardware
Bring back 'System Default Audio Device' as option in Audio Hardware preferences.
I switch a LOT between speakers and headphones on any given day. There used to be an option where AE would use whatever the system audio is... plug headphones in, audio switches to those... unplug headphones, AE switches to speakers.
Why was this removed in AE (and Premiere)?

This drives me absolutely insane. I have to go into the preferences and switch audio hardware many times a day when reviewing with co-workers/clients.
I do love having the ability to have my Spotify and my AE playing separately, so I dont really want a "System Audio" Option. What I'd really like is to just pull the settings out and more visible, maybe into the "Audio" window? Can I do this myself?

This. I work in an open office and have to switch between headphones and speakers many times a day and having the option for after effects, and premiere to match my system audio selection would save me so much time.

Totally interrupts my flow when I switch output to my speakers after showing something to the creative director and then press play... oh wait. Now I have to switch it in preferences inside AE because it doesn't recognize which output I'm using.

Is there a fix for this yet? Its SO annoying having to switch the preferences in AE all the time. Also, what makes it worse is that most of the time AE doesn't even use the correct output when I set it so, so I'm constantly having to go back to the preferences and change outputs a few times before it works correctly. This is still happening in CC2020 on Windows 10.

There's a thread for this in the Premiere Pro forum which has more votes so make sure you add your voice there toohttps://adobe-video.uservoice.com/forums/911233-premiere-pro/suggestions/34627792-bring-back-system-default-input-output-in-audio-ha

I really wished they paid attention to things like this. I use Bluetooth headphones and I can't tell you how many times a day i have to go to preferences and find this annoying setting to make it use headphones audio out, when I can just click on my audio icon for Windows and quickly switch the Audio out setting.
And I mean on both AE and Premiere. This is very annoying, please make it work with default Audio Hardware

When my art director comes to watch I normally switch to speakers so he can hear and see what I've accomplished so far. Oh wait, After Effects doesn't recognize the switch so I have to open up the AE preferences and then play it. It is the only app on my computer that doesn't auto recognize the switch

Yeah I have the EXACT same issue. I use bluetooth headphones and often walk away from my desk. Anytime they disconnect and reconnect I have to go into AE's audio preferences. Which for some reason, takes longer to open in 2018 than it did in 2017.
Such a small thing that definitely impacts my daily workflow.

It is mind boggling to me that I have to jump into the preferences every time to change this since my last used device never works after undocking or turning off.
