Bring back 'System Default Audio Device' as option in Audio Hardware
Bring back 'System Default Audio Device' as option in Audio Hardware preferences.
I switch a LOT between speakers and headphones on any given day. There used to be an option where AE would use whatever the system audio is... plug headphones in, audio switches to those... unplug headphones, AE switches to speakers.
Why was this removed in AE (and Premiere)?

Please fix it!

Good lord is this issue annoying

So it DID use to be an option? Why the **** did they remove it?! So frustrating. Every time I change the system playback device to headphones, put on some music and get into the flow, and then After Effects or Premiere is starts playing from from the speakers so that I need to go into the @#%&!! settings to fix it, a little part of me dies. FIX THIS ALREADY!

Please fix this for the adobe suite.... after effects, premiere, audition... switching on and off headphones should be seamless

I thought I was going mad as my Windows 7 work machine doesn't have this issue. Turns out it's using an older version of AE.
Now I'm working from home on Windows 10 I have to manually swap when I connect my headphones. What a pain the in ass.

This is an infuriating feature not to have for people that switch between speakers and headphones continually, and really needs to be put back.

Oh my god yes, This problem is actually making me consider switching away from audition. Switching between headphones and monitors is a huge pain in the ****.

Oh please, I go into preferences 15 times a day and it's super annoying.
Kevin Koslowski commented
Yes please bring this back! It's stupid annoying. For a company building a product with emphasis on UX, it seems ridiculous, that this is an open request since like 2 years.

How has this not only still not been fixed, but is even worse now? It now takes 2 to 3 minutes for it to even pull up the Audio Hardware window (on Mac). Losing my GD mind!
Mats Claussen commented
Exactly! Totally don't understand why this was changed ... Please fix this.

This drives me absolutely insane. I have to go into the preferences and switch audio hardware many times a day when reviewing with co-workers/clients.
I do love having the ability to have my Spotify and my AE playing separately, so I dont really want a "System Audio" Option. What I'd really like is to just pull the settings out and more visible, maybe into the "Audio" window? Can I do this myself?

This. I work in an open office and have to switch between headphones and speakers many times a day and having the option for after effects, and premiere to match my system audio selection would save me so much time.

Totally interrupts my flow when I switch output to my speakers after showing something to the creative director and then press play... oh wait. Now I have to switch it in preferences inside AE because it doesn't recognize which output I'm using.

Is there a fix for this yet? Its SO annoying having to switch the preferences in AE all the time. Also, what makes it worse is that most of the time AE doesn't even use the correct output when I set it so, so I'm constantly having to go back to the preferences and change outputs a few times before it works correctly. This is still happening in CC2020 on Windows 10.
