  2. Scroll option for all drop down menus

Just as fonts now, blending modes in Photoshop.

Ability to scroll blending modes, effect parameters and other drop down menus with mouse wheel.

    Thanks

  3. AE should remember effects layer inputs (like set matte) when copy/pasting layers. Currently need to manually reconnect after pasting,

This is how parenting works when you copy/paste a new set of layers. It creates parents relative to the new layers you've pasted. That is smart, now if only effects worked the same way! For some reason the default behavior on plugins is to revert the layer inputs on effects like “set matte” or “create nulls from paths” to the source layer that the effect is applied to after pasting.

I frequently use both of the aforementioned effects to make templates, and I'm constantly copy/pasting sets of template layers into new comps, but every time I do I have to…

  4. Stand alone graph editor window

Undock the graph editor button from the timeline window and allow it to be a stand alone window in the workspace. Tired of clicking back and forth, back and forth...all day long

  6. Give the ramp effect some love

The ramp effect is so basic. Sometimes it just doesn't cut it. Why don't you update it with some clever features similar to it's layer style cousin?

  7. Add support for 3dconnexion

Adding support for 3dconnexion 3d mice would allow greater flexibility when working in 3d space. It would also make the job a lot easier for some of us.

    Thanks!

  8. Native light wrap in After Effects layer.

I really wish to have a fast and native light wrap plugin in After Effects. This tool is essential in compositing.

  9. No glyphs?

A glyphs panel would be an amazing addition.

  10. Align to Key Object

The same function that Illustrator has would be amazing. Select two objects, click on the key object then hit align centre.

  11. Set Adjustment Layer (like Set Matte)

Steal a page from the 'Set Matte' playbook and create a 'Set Adjustment Layer' effect. This would allow an adjustment layer to live anywhere in the comp and frees the layers you want to affect from being required to live underneath the adjustment layer itself.

A 'Set Adjustment Layer' effect would allow for an entire effect stack that lives on an adjustment layer to be easily instanced out to whichever layer(s) you want. It would make for a smoother workflow instead of having to copy the desired effect with relative links and pasting to individual layers since you would now…

  12. Expose all internal After Effects commands to scripting

It's possible to find many of AE's command IDs by running the following ES function and filling in whatever menu command you're after:

    app.findMenuCommandId("Go To Keyframe Time");

But many other commands that aren't strictly "menu" commands seem inaccessible / hidden. For example, it seems impossible to find the commands for shifting keyframes left or right (represented in the hotkey editor by entries like "NudgeKeyframesEarlier" or "Shift Selected Keyframes 1 Frame Earlier").

It'd be great if you could expose these secret commands to scripting, by giving them entries in the function above, giving them command IDs, and/or by building an event…

  13. Bezier Paths: change handle size on mouse over (like puppet pins do in 15.1)

When there are a lot of paths/shapes on a layer, with vertices very close to each other, it's always difficult to select one precise point/handle.

Having a visual feedback BEFORE the click to select the points (and tangents handles) would help a lot their selection.

  14. Show keyframe velocity in Timeline

Everythink that can allow me to not go in the graph editor is a must have. I use a lot the duik script to tweak the velocity without going inside the graph editor.

This small feature was suggested by sandervandijk.

    http://www.sandervandijk.tv/after-effects-features/keyframes#velocity-in-timeline

One of the most used features is the "Keyframe Velocity" window. It shows the amount of easing that comes in—and goes out of a Keyframe. This is valuable information to know but right now it's hidden in the "Keyframe Velocity" window.

It'd make a huge difference to get better access to this information—especially directly in the Timeline ( right…

  16. Add smart guides, snapping & guides like in Illustrator

    Illustrator has done it right.
    - dragging guides out of the rulers is easy
    - guides snap and show relations via smart guides
    - guides can be selected and moves via the keyboard & the position value can be easily adjusted in pixels
    - smart guides help when positioning and resizing layers
    - snapping helps to change the origin for the ruler
    - elements snap to guides

Its also an Abobe tool, so please copy this behaviour over. In comparison illustrator feels like a very old, outdated software, even though you obviously know how to do it right.

    Cheers

  18. Import layer transfer modes from Illustrator

It would be great if the transfer modes from illustrator layers would be reflected when the .ai file is imported into After Effects.

  19. A histogram within the curves window. Thank you

A histogram inside curves would be immensely useful. Similar to Photoshop or Lightroom.

  20. Create Layer Groups

I would like to be able to group layers, similarly to in Photoshop or Illustrator.

Creating small groups of objects without the need for making them into a comp first would be very helpful.
