  1. Import AI to AE: AI Layers to Precomps

For rigging and organization purposes, importing should be more tight. I guess every program in Suite can be integrated properly.

When you "export as" ai to psd, for instance, you find every path created on illustrator in a folder/subfolder inside the layers tab on photoshop.

This could be really useful if you prepare a tons of bones and parts in a rig workflow inside illustrator and try to import this project inside after effects.

In a nutshell, you should be able to import AI layers in After effects as precomps.

  2. ONION SKIN!!!

There needs to be an onion skin option for frame by frame drawing, it's not difficult!

  3. Option to quantize keyframes when time stretching with Alt key

Time stretching with the Alt/Opt key is a great way to quickly adjust the length of an animation, but it almost always leads to subframe positioning of keyframes. There are plenty of scripts out there to fix the results of this problem (I use KEYboard), but it would be great if we could avoid this problem all together by holding the Shift key after we start Alt+Dragging. Shift would be in line with the existing behavior of snapping keys to other keys, layer in/out points, and marke

  4. Maintain animation curves when using Separate Dimensions.

When using Separate Dimensions on previously keyframed animation, After Effects currently breaks the animation curves, which must then be manually corrected.

This occurs in both directions, requiring users to commit to ONLY using Separate or Combined dimensions, at risk of having to constantly redo & adjust keyframes.

This functionality is currently provided by the $15 'Keep Em Separated' plugin at AEScripts, but should be the default behaviour.

    Please fix this 🙏🏻

  5. Masks should have a keyframeable transforms

Currently you have to animate the mask "Path" in order to achieve any translation. However when doing roto/tracking it would be extremely handy to be able to separately keyframe translation from the mask path. For example when applying tracking data to a mask you could track just the position and keyframe the mask path separately. Similarly when using the "mask tracker" the results are virtually unusable for any detailed roto work because you end up with a keyframe on every frame, therefore any manual edits cause popping in the animation. With the addition of position, rotation and scale it would…

  6. set matte

I have great idea for something that's been lacking for a long time - how about your team implement the basic features people have been requesting for years rather than relying on flashy new features that make for good marketing. I think this would be a something to really think about for future releases so that long-term users like me aren't constantly googling "After Effects alternatives" and looking longingly at how free programmes like Blender listen to the community.

  7. Show delta time when shifting keyframes

When shifting a layer in time, I get a useful display in the info panel telling me, how much I have shifted the layer already (delta time). Please give the same info when shifting keyframes. There only the new time of the keyframe is displayed, so I have to remember the old time and do the math to know, how much the keyframe was shifted.

  8. A keyframe that inherits its value from the previous keyframe

Imagine a scenario with 3 keyframes where an object holds position for a second (1-2) then moves to a new position (2-3). To adjust the object hold position, you must edit keyframes 1 and 2. If you forget to update keyframe 2 you no longer have a hold. With this type of inheritance keyframe, you'd only have to worry about adjust keyframe 1, and keyframe 2 would automatically follow along.

  9. Option to parent individual shape layer vertices to the vertices of other shapes

It would be great if we could manipulate and parent specific vertices within shape layers to other vertices on other shape layers (rather than using Puppet Pins or third party scripts)

  10. maintain stroke width WITHOUT expressions.

At the moment, if i wish to scale a path / several paths , while maintaining the same stroke width - i need to mark all the "stroke width" parameters, link them all to a certain null, and use that null to scale the objects.

this gets very very uncomfortable when dealing with a lot of objects.

its about time that after effects will have that feature built in!
same as in illustrator ( where you can maintain the stroke width with a single click)

come on adobe. MAKE THAT HAPPEN.

  11. A simple way to parent keyframes to markers

You should be able to link any keyframe to any marker in a comp, in the same way you can link/parent layers to one another. There are ways to do this using complex expressions, but a simple pick-whip style tool to quickly link keyframes and markers would be an absolute game-changer. Especially for complex files in need of frequent revisions.

  12. Addig "hue" as a text animation property does not add a new range selector

Addig "hue" as a text animation property does not add a new range selector. Instead it gets added to the previously added range selector.

  13. BUG: Parenting a layer to a layer with a scale of zero does not retain child transform

If a layer is parented to a layer with with a 0% keyframe scale, the child layer does not retain its transform, but snaps to the position/scale of the parent. The only way to avoid this is to make the scale greater than zero before parenting, in which case the child layer retains its transform properly

  14. Fix graph editor easy-ease curve kinks for key-framed properties

When a third keyframe is added to a property that is easy-eased, a kink is created in the curve that cannot be modified. Current work arounds involve separating dimensions and then manually adjusting curve handles in the value graph, destroying the original curves. The current process ruins smooth animations and has existed for years. This is a basic function and needs to be fixed.

  15. Add end of stroke feathering for shapes.

Add end of stroke feathering for shapes: it would be great to have feathering available for the end of strokes on "Trim Paths" "Dashes" and any other stroke.

  16. Lock Animated Properties to adjust entire animations

Currently, if you have an animation on a keyframable transform property, modifying the entirety of that animation involves one of at least three workarounds:

    1. Precomp the layer

    2. Attach the Layer to a Null

    3. Select all keyframes, make sure the marker is on one of the keyframes and then make the adjustment.

This is fine, unless you end up having multiple layers that you need to adjust on the whole while retaining their animations.

For example, let's say I have a falling object that has position and rotation, but I eventually want to use that same object and animation multiple times…

  17. duplicate frame

BUG REPORT: After Effects seems to randomly disregard layer order and Z space position, particularly on any camera move, X Y or Z. One kind of fix is to put empty adjustment layers over the artwork layers. Which is so, so far from ideal. Ridiculous.

  18. motion blur

    Bug Report:

Motion blur causes odd transparency and layer order issues with objects being blurred seemingly at random. Precomping is no good because it ruins other effects, like Set Matte and continuous raster.

  19. Add shortcut to add a keyframe to path property

I just want to select a layer then hit ALT+(a key) which adds a keyframe to the path property. It's really tiresome first selecting a layer then having to search for the path property. Then having to drag a rectangle over the path properties. Then adding a keyframe. Especially when there's many path to one layer.

It works brilliantly with the other properties eg. ALT+P to add a position keyframe at the CTI.

Also… At the moment the cursor sticks (on Mac) for 2-3 second when dragging rectangles over anything in the timeline.

    Cheers!

  20. Reverse Keyframes button

How about a button to reverse selected keyframes to create a reverse of your animation
