flac
Supporting audio file conversion from .flac to other files types and vice versa

Hi all,
There's a new team - including me - working on Media Encoder and part of that work has been reviewing feature requests on this forum. At this time, we do not have plans to support flac. There are a couple of reasons for this:
1. We are focusing our efforts on providing support (or improving existing support) for several raw video formats that have become popular and for which there is no simple alternative. That is: if a custom chooses camera X, we need to support the raw video format X shoots in.
2. We are working on improving how Media Encoder uses hardware efficiently and how it can run as a service, as well as desktop application.
While these two points aren't directly related to flac, they need engineering resources and they are a higher priority than support flac currently. I understand that you might disagree with prioritization but I want to share our thinking regardless. As you can see from several other feature requests that we're are currently working on or are under consideration, we highly value feedback from customers.
Thanks!
Fergus

Thanks to Fergus for answering, we need information to work. Of course, as I can understand the reasons for not incorporating FLAC to Media Encoder, you sure can understand there will be consequences of your decision anyway. You see, being efficient is not so important these days as being widely compatible, as processors are already so powerful, we won't be counting milliseconds!
Thought an app called Media Encoder means all media, or at list as much as possible. Aren't you working out of the scope of customers expectations?
I know we here are not a lot of customers complaining and probably not your focus, but we are relevant and as Adobe keep restricting services (FLAC is not the only one) and we are obligated to use third part tools, we might came to the conclusion we won't need this cloud anymore.
I am being sincere because you have dedicated a time to us. Thanks and best regards.

People paying $30+ a month and cant get something so obvious and probably not that much work added that over the course of years is STILL relevant today lol.. this is basics.

Not supporting FLAC is a huge flaw, it's widely used and a pro format.

Probably Adobe is too busy inventing annoying authentication solutions thay keep on prompting users to enter passwords when they need to do something as simple as opening a pdf file, and prevent opening their apps from different users on the same PC. This is why they don't have time to implement a feature like supporting flac files.

Seriously, with all the computing power of Adobe you can't do this?!
Unacceptable for a product this expensive. It would be hard to accept in freeware. -

Flac support should be built into ALL adobe suite products.. but leaving it out of the friggen encoder?? come on...
