Add QuickTime Reference file support again!
This was an absolutely superfast workflow for exporting from Avid.
Really easy and time saving. Avid even still offers QuickTime reference export in version 2019.9.19 votes -
Have a default Preset
Being able to right-click a preset and setting "Make Default" would be fantastic. I know AME is supposed to apply whatever preset you last used, but that only works when AME has not crashed. I'd find it incredibly useful to be able to set AME to, by default, always apply the default Preset unless I changed it.

Bring back .mov support please
I agree that .mov is outdated, but it is still a very typical format that drops in from time to time. Support for old formats is really really usefull, one never knows when they pop up. And it's stressfull to have to jump to free softwares like handbrake to get the job done

OGG OGV
Seriously ... Adobe needs to add these output formats... how long have users been asking for it? How many replies have I seen suggesting using another media encoding software? Wake up Adobe!

PROPER color profile and bith depth handling!
You can't work professionally with AME unless you implement proper color profile rendering and comprehensive (!!!) bith depth handling!
Especially coming from AE, how would you export to a digital intermediate, if you can't export something MORE than 8 bit, and Rec.709? It's just embarassing for Adobe.
— I just come from having a nightmare experience on my last job... Had to use FFmpeg to get a reasonable 10 bit broadcast format, that still contained all the color information. That is a FREE app that got the job done, compared to the PAID Media Encoder...

Convert variable frame rate to constant
smart phones are variable frame rate- if you want to be able to edit with this footage it has to be constant frame rate- hand brake does this for free but you have to choose one file at a time and its slow-

MKV support for Transcoding
MKV may not be a wildly popular format, but it makes Media Encoder unable to do it's job if MKV is not supported. I am look to transcode this format and I am unable to do this with this software.
Please consider making Media Encoder more useful by supporting more formats like MKV.

AME 2020 fails on encoding 4K HEVC(H265), in AME 2019 it works fine
Today I repeatedly tried to encode a 4K HEVC(H265) file, and I got very quick fails with error code 7 (Out of Memory). Checked save locations, memory usage, disk cache, etc. Closed AME2020, reopened, etc.
Then I reinstalled AME2019, and it worked like a charm.So it's a new bug, I guess...

Frame padding
Having custom/fixed frame padding while exporting image sequences is a good idea. VFX software like Nuke doesn't allow multiple frame paddings.
Ex: If we render image sequence which ranges from 1 to 1000 frames then it would be
Images.01.png
Images.02.png
....
....
Images.99.png
images.100.png (Here the padding > 2)
....
....
Images.999.png
Images.1000.png (Here the padding > 3)In the above case, Nuke will interpret Multiple reads nodes for each padding increment.

DPP AS11 files level shift
Exporting DPP AS11 files has awful levels shift. Shadows raised and highlights dropped. I've tested creating AS11 in Media Encoder from a dozen different mezzanine files and encounter the same. So Media Encoder doesn't appear to be an option for AS11 creation as far as I can tell. It's strange as I've used it the past so will test some older Media Encoder versions and see if there is a version where it works.

AVI support
Please add support for avi formats. Some of my devices save the recordings in avi formats and I lose quality when converting :(

Constant Quality/Quantizer
Adobe software needs to implement both Constant Quality and Constant Quantizer options for H.264/5, with an adjustable Max bitrate setting that can also be applied when needed.

WHY DID YOU REMOVE SUPPORT FOR MKV FILES??!!!
Why would you remove support for mkv files in the latest version??
OBS on windows records to mkv files and many people use it for screen captures, mkv is the recommended file type in OBS because it will save the file to the drive even if OBS crashes; MP4 will not do that.. So now I can't import ANY screencaptures I've done into Premiere Pro, or Media Encoder............................. This is extremely frustrating.
At the very lease Media Encoder should be able to convert it to a format that Premiere will be able to use.
We live in a time where…
