  1. Media Encoder fails on multiple file output every time

Every single time I try and make a batch export of multiple files Media Encoder will create the first one and fail all the rest.
I can make it work by resetting the failed files and hitting export again.
This happens on multiple machines and different OS.

  2. Render/Compression Hiccup with M1 Max MacBook Pro

I'm getting a compression hiccup on the M1 Max MacBook Pro on only some videos (batch processing more than one video) using Media Encoder. I use exported ProRes 1080p videos from Final Cut Pro but then I pull those videos into Media Encoder to make a verified transcoded ProRes 1080 29.97 with uncompressed 48000 Hz 24 bit audio for use in television broadcasting. This custom profile we made in Media Encoder works with with our EVS X-file encoder so I can import those video files into our high-end playback and replay EVS equipment. For the past three years, I've been…

  3. I need to be able to batch modify colorspace in "source settings" for Prores Raw clips in Media Encoder.

I need to be able to batch modify "Source Settings" on ProRes Raw clips in Media Encoder. Currently the colorspace for ProRes Raw clips has to be set on a per clip basis by right-clicking clips in the Media Encoder queue and choosing Source Settings and then setting the colorspace as desired (the colorspace always defaults to Rec709). If I select multiple ProRes raw clips and try to modify Source Settings, the change is applied only to the first clip in the selection. I need to render hundreds of clips using the Sony slog3/sgamut3.cine colorspace setting but as it is,…

    Hi Bryan,

I want to provide an update for you on this issue.

Unfortunately, due to the way we handle source settings in Media Encoder right now, it's not a simple change to make it possible to apply source settings to multiple files. In the short term, we are going to remove the ability to choose Source Settings when multiple files are selected; that's a bug because it implies that multiple files can be changed simultaneously when in fact that does not work.

However, your very reasonable request is still something we are going to figure out how to do. I  don't have a date for when this will be done - we need to do more investigation - but I will update this request when I have more info.

    Thanks again,

    Fergus

  4. Closed Captions with both 608 & 708 embedded not working. Sending to PBS anyone?

Sending closed captions to OP1a 50mbit files as Embedded with both 608 & 708 streams doesn't work via Media Encoder (PC) v22.4. It does work correctly directly out of Premiere (PC) v2022. If you have a sequence with just 608, or just 708, it outputs correctly through AME. If you have both 608 & 708 tracks, only the 608 track is in the final file. AME keeps telling me "PProHeadless has encountered a problem and needs to close"

  5. Ingest workflow needs to be improved.

Now Prelude is discontinued i feel there needs to be a better ingest workflow in AME. Watch folders still require all of the footage to be in the exact same folder which is unworkable for me. If the watch folder could pick up a set folder structure and copy this for the transcoded files it would be perfect for our workflow. Otherwise you have to make a separate watch folder for every folder and it defeats the simplicity of the solution.

  6. Batch encoding for Closed Captions

We have hundreds of completed MP4 videos that need Closed Captions. I would like to grab a group of say 10 videos into Media Encoder and get back 10 SRT files.
Currently when I make a preset that should do this, it exports the same MP4 file (even though I've checked Audio), but NO SRT file.
I would also like to do the same batch effort to create the Transcription file for each of the videos.
I have looked in your Adobe community and people have been complaining about the ME Closed Captions NOT working for almost 4 years.
    Most…

  7. Allow media encoder to add custom prefix/suffix to output file

Specifically allow media encoder to add either custom text or source file name as a prefix/suffix to the output file. In my work my After Effects project are given job numbers and the output file also must be named with the same job number to keep track of files.

We have also created templates to ease with production, currently our output comps simply start with "XXXXX" and we do a batch rename after rendering is complete. But with custom prefixes/suffixes we wouldn't have a need for that step.

This could be added as an option to encoding presets or to…

  8. Batch SRT files from Media Encoder

Batch export closed captions (separate SRT files) and text transcriptions from multiple mp4s. We have hundreds of training videos that are in MP4 format. Now, we need to have Closed Captions and Transcriptions for all the videos. Most are 5 - 10 minutes in length. Right now, I'm doing this one file at a time.
I would like to take say 10 videos, put in Media Encoder, then create 10 SRT Closed Caption files and 10 Transcription files.
I'm sure many people have thousands of training videos that need Closed Captions and doing this in batches would help immensely.
    I've…

  9. Select source audio tracks

When I get rushes that have 4 tracks of audio I want to be able to choose the tracks that I want to process and mute in AME to create dailies. Much like Modify Clip > Audio Channels in Premiere Pro.

  10. Add Custom Output File template

Allow the user to create different Output templates (like in AE), using fields/properties like :

    Custom text
    Date Year/Month/Day
    Time Hour/Minutes/Seconds
    Project Name
    File Name
    Relative path
    File extension
    Width
    Height
    etc.

  11. BUG - Media Encoder file size export is inconsistent with multiple versions of the same file.

I have 1 video file and 27 different languages to export for that file. Queue in ME and export, almost every file is a different size. When exporting from Premiere, all 27 files are the same exact size. Interestingly, the last file exported by ME is the size of each file exported by Premiere.

I wouldn't know if the issue is caused by the XML created by Premiere for ME to read or if this is an issue with ME. My files need to be within a 1 frame duration to pass. As of now, the best way to achieve…

  12. Force encoder to finish it's job

It just stops encoding for no reason, the previous encoder would have been fine, this has happened on 2 occasions since the recent update.
Please fix as this could seriously harm my work in future.

  13. Problems when exporting/transcoding DV AVI files - Render/transcode stalls

I opened several old project containing DV AVI PAL footage. I noticed that all project with DV AVI PAL has problems when exporting from AME 14/15/22 and Premiere Pro.

The export (or transcode) stalls, continues, stalls, continues, etc, etc until it´s done. This does not happen with another source codec such as Blackmagic Design Motion-JPEG or Prores.

    An easy way to reproduce:
    1. Open Premiere Pro and create a DV PAL 4:3 timeline.
    2. Create and add Bars and Tone and place it on the timeline
    3. Make the Bars and Tone 1 hour long
    4. Export to AVI >…

  15. moving sources and encoded outputs

Hi, I would like to see an option in AMEs preferences to turn off that moving of sourcefiles. This makes it almost impossible to set up a workflow that relies on creating versions and using Proxies in After effects, since they are moved away. Just laeve everything where it is and create a textfile to check if a clip has been rendered already or not. Maxon does it very well with Teamrender. Please!

  17. Add option to copy video to additional location after encode is completed

This software is called media ENCODER so technically this doesn't really fall under it's rubric but, since one can queue multiple encodes to different locations it would also be helpful to have post encoding options such as the ability to copy a finished job to multiple locations, this allows one to automatically output to all needed locations, but also avoid unnecessary re-encoding. It's just a convenience thing.

I am often encoding to an external drive to be used as a delivery medium, but that is not the location that will be used for archiving of the project. A given encode…

  19. Improve quality for batch exports out of premier through media encoder.

I am losing a lot more quality doing batch exports out of premier and into media encoder. I am losing a lot of my font weight. So words that were visible are not visible anymore. This happens in the chain from premier to media encoder. I know this because I will export out of premier and then compress with media encoder, and I don't have the issue any more. But for now I have to export individually out of premier and not use media encoders batch process, for sake of quality. All exports were made with the same bitrate and…

  20. Allocate media exports across different computers over network

While Media encoder is super helpful , it is a bit limited with network options. I have 3 machines available to me and they all run Adobe Media encoder and premier pro. Our media library is on the local storage so you can open project files from any machine.

At the moment , if I want to utilise all of my machines(for decreasing export times) , I have to open the same Premiere Pro file and then prepare different sequences for export on each machine individually or access the sequence through each computer's Media encoder.

    It would be great if…
