Premiere Pro

ANNOUNCEMENT - This forum is moving

In an effort to improve communications between you and the Premiere Pro team, we are moving this feedback forum to the Premiere Pro page on the Adobe Support Community. As requested, bugs and feature requests will be able to live separately in that forum.

This move is happening in part to acknowledge that we haven't been responsive enough here, and we are combining our forums to help remedy that. Ideas and their attached comments from this UserVoice forum will be migrated based on how many people voted for them. Check your profile on the Adobe Support Community to see any migrated posts that you've created or commented on. If you have an item here that did not make the migration, please bring it over to our new home.

See you soon on the Adobe Support Forum!

  1. Improve scrubbing/fast forwarding performance with these 3 ideas!

Scrubbing and Fast Forwarding performance is often painfully slow.

Here's an example by Jayme Cowley Media Co. of scrubbing performance in Pr vs Resolve: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilPUc22itSA. The associated FR he posted mentions the problem but doesn't offer any specific solutions.

Here are 3 improvements that could greatly enhance scrubbing and fast forwarding in Pr:

    1. SCRUBBING/FF RESOLUTION: In addition to being able to set the Payback and Paused Resolution in the Source/Program Monitor's wrench menus, it would be great to also be able to specify the resolution that's used when scrubbing or Fast Forwarding in the Timeline or Source Monitor. This…

  2. Chromatic aberration filter

I am looking for a chromatic aberration filter, similar to the one built into the Photoshop raw editor. It would be nice to be able to remove chromatic aberration from video shot with zoom lenses.

    Thank you!

  3. BUG: Layouts are not saved properly on PPro CC 2019 (13.0)

As with every major release, I installed PPro CC 2019 (13.0) using the following steps:
    1. Remove PPro CC 2018.1 (12.1.1)
    2. Remove settings & layouts by deleting folder "C:\Users{MyUser}\Documents\Adobe\Premiere\12"
    3. Remove Cache Files (Both from scratch disk and %APPDATA%\Adobe\Common)
    4. Also remove third party plugins, Blackmagic drivers, NDI tools
    5. Update Nvidia drivers
    6. Install PPro CC 2019 (13.0)
    7. Install latest versions of plugins, blackmagic drivers
    8. Restart computer and start PPro with Alt-Shift to purge plugin cache data.
    9. Adjust all settings and make my layouts, making sure I have the "import workspace from projects" is disabled.

  5. Canon EOS R5 HEVC 422 files not loading correctly

I have a Canon EOS R5 which can shoot video in HEVC or RAW 10-bit 422 format. Premiere can load all its files fine, but when I examine their properties inside Premiere Pro the HEVC and ALL-I HEVC files show as 10 bit 420 files. Not 10 bit 422. The RAW Files don't actually show the color depth or chroma information. All the files seem to load and edit fine, but it seems to be misinterpreting the 10 bit 422 HEVC files as 420.
Is this a bug, does it affect my color grading, or is this some intentional conversion…

  6. Everything wrong with Captions in Premiere Pro 13.1.2. Let get captioning fixed asap!

Captions in Premiere Pro 13.1.2* have several problems.

(*Windows10. May be different on Mac.). Here is a thread of all of the problems I've found in captions so far. While there are several threads already that point out individual issues, I'm hoping that bringing all of the issues together in a single mega thread will help get captions Adobe's prompt attention. Here we go!

    1. NO BURN IN: Exporting a video through Media Encoder doesn't burn in captions even if the "Burn Captions Into Video" option is selected in Premiere Pro's Export Settings. The captions only get burned in if the…

  7. Using the name of a track (Video 2, Video 3... or user defined name) in the track matte key effect rather than the absolute name (V2, V3...)

When using the track matte key effect, you have to indicate on what track stands the matte. Currently, the only option is to indicate an absolute track number (V2, V3...). If you have to move clips from a track to another or insert tracks, you have to re-enter all these numbers which can be a pain **********.

The ability to enter instead the NAME of the track (Video 2, Video 3... or the name defined by the user) that contains the matte would be a great time saver.

I generally put all the mattes I use in a sequence in…

  8. Ingest camera metadata

Has anyone ever seen camera metadata in Premiere from non-raw footage?

Almost any camera today records metadata like model, serial no., ISO, white balance, etc. Premiere has had an extensive metadata system for over 5 years... and you'd think that developing codec support for any cameras that come out would include interpreting those metadata fields.
It's one of those "how come this hasn't been implemented 5 years ago?"...

I worked mostly with Sony and Canon cameras, so they're the ones I've seen without metadata.

    This feature request would cover

  9. Give option to remove the ch.1, ch.2 etc. tags on the UI

Take a look at the attached image. It would be good to be able to simply enable/disable these little UI tags on the audio tracks, they get in the way of the waveforms while we are editing. Nothing fancy, just give us the option to enable/disable these just like clip names or FX badges.

  10. As a user, I'd like scene edit detection to function correctly on videos with 1 frame transitions between clips.

Scene edit detection works great for videos that do not have transitions between clips. On videos with a 1 frame transition, scene edit detection often produces long run-on subclips. I'd like scene edit detection to correctly identify situations with a 1 frame transition between clips, eliminate the transition frame, and subclip individual clips correctly.

  11. Capturing HDV tapes produces .ac3 clips instead of .mov (as it does with DV tapes)

    1. Capturing HDV tapes produces .ac3 clips instead of .mov (as it does with DV tapes)

    2. Clip numbering is useless: If I start e.g. with "Name-001" the next captured clip will not be "Name-002" but is instead "Name-001 01"!

    3. Removing e.g. the sharpening filter from the TL does not work

    and so on. Grate Update!

  12. 1) Hide/Unhide clips markers in timeline 2) show markers on video but NOT audio in merged/Mcam clips 3) Copy/Paste markers between clips...

    1) I'm using markers a ton, extending green markers to cover full takes on a movie, etc to note things for the Editor. In the timelines, these markers annoyingly cover up waveforms, etc. Being able to hide / unhide these in timelines, without deleting them would be so helpful.

    2) I'd like to have markers show on the video tracks, and not the audio tracks in merged, Mcam clips. I don't see a way to do this.

    3) I would love to be able to Copy / Paste markers from one clip to another. Currently, I add markers to A…

  13. Live (Dynamic Link) Bins

PROBLEM: Due to the nature of my work, I slow get footage for different projects over a couple weeks or months. As I get new footage/music/foley for a project, it seems pretty old school to have to import each set of files into my windows folder structure then manually import the files into premiere to match that folder structure.

IDEA: Allow for the import of a folder tree into the premiere project panel to be displayed as bins. After that's done, you can have the preference to (1) update the bins on project open (2) auto update the bins every…

  15. Adobe Premiere Pro - REQUEST: IMPROVE "Close GAP" command. Fix / extend better functionality!

"Close GAP" is awesome, but works ONLY when there are NO tracks on top or below, that close the gap. It does not work if there is an adjustment layer on top, or an audio track below or any track for that matter below or above the current track (or tracks) where I cant the gap to be closed. Please fix/extend its usability by:

    1. Option to exclude LOCKED tracks.
    2. Option to CLOSE the GAP even if there are layers on top or below, simply by marking ONLY the gaps we need to be closed.
    3. Combination of both 1 and 2.

  16. V15 - Still have Selector: 9 Error code: 3

    Hello,

I still have these errors on all projects. I have upgraded everything, removed all traces of the GPU driver and installed the latest Studio Drivers (GTX 1080ti) and still have these errors. Doesn't happen if I don't use the GPU for export - but then a 50 minute video takes all night and I wonder why I bother with a GPU card...

    Usual stuff:

    Error compiling movie.

    Export Error

    Error completing render.

    Writing with exporter: H.264
    Writing to file: \?\D:\Videos\PROJECTS\Update 6 Holly Farm\test.mp4
    Writing file type: H264
    Around timecode: 00:01:51:10 - 00:01:51:13
    Component: H.264 of type Exporter

  19. merge clips

Hi I really like how merge clips work, but hope to see some improvement along the way.
    1. Audio metadata. Can we have a better workflow for sound post-production as to syncing using merge clips without losing any audio metadata?
    2. In the preview area, if a merged clip is used in sequences, there's no "video/audio used in xx times" indicator (like a normal clip).
    3. I guess just generally treat merged clips as a regular clip?
    Thank you!
