  1. M1 Max Chip Macbook Pro GPU Acceleration

ISSUE with graphics that has alpha channel on the M1 max chip macbook pro when GPU acceleration is turned on. Everything looks fine when turned off but rendering this will take ages. The final export file size seems to be smaller than usual and tend to have glitches.

  2. Making better use of the Hardware, GPU for Playback and Debayering and using mutiple cores.

    • Use the Power of GPU for better Playback Performance
    • In General I noticed a much greater Performance with FCPX and Resolve. I would LOVE to see the Performance in Premiere.
    • iMac Pro Hardware support aswell as MacBooks and all common used editing machines. Note: I cant get full Resolution 4K Playback with an iMac Pro (in ProRes or C200 RAW as well as some 4K h.265 from a consumer camera files)

Under Review  ·  Reg Santo Tomas responded

As Wes noted, we are looking at many areas for optimization and have made strides in the last few releases already.

We recognize there are still many areas to improve performance and we are investing in appropriate areas.

Threads that are catch-alls are often non-actionable. Please keep giving us specific feedback on what workflows are slow for you.

Technical solutions may not always be as obvious as some people may be suggesting as the application architecture is often very different than people’s conception.

Short answer. Yes, we want to and will make it faster.

  3. Photos thumbnails don't appear when using GPU accelerated colors

When enabling the "Display Color Management (Requires GPU Acceleration)" setting, photo thumbnails do not render/appear in the project/bin panels.

  4. GPU Acceleration Bug Still Present in PremPro 2019.

Premiere Pro 2019 CC and I'm still stuck with the red ribbon in Windows 10 1809 which auto-installed an update earlier today. Brand new project created in PP 2019 CC involving only two layers from a single Photoshop PSD. Installed the latest drivers for twin GTX 1080s in SLI, 64gb memory, Ryzen Threadripper 1950x,16 cores, 3.40gHz, preferences set for Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (CUDA). Trying to apply Effects/Color Correction/Change Color. Sigh!

  5. BUG: Input LUT Broken on GPU Render

The input LUT function (interpret footage->color management->input lut dropdown) Doesn't do anything if you have GPU rendering enabled. If you switch to mercury software playback the LUT loads but it is not loading if you use mercury playback GPU.

    Steps for bug:

    1. Input log or really any footage
    2. Set input lut
    3. Footage remains unchanged. ..Tested an XAVC and an h.264 file with no luck. ..
    4. Switch to CPU render and the input lut works!

    It's a bug....

  6. External GPU support

macOS 10.13.4 High Sierra brought native support for Radeon eGPUs. However, there is not OpenGL support in Premiere Pro 2018 and Metal Support is very slow. It would be great to use Nvidia Cards for CUDA but, Mac does not support those cards.

  7. Issues about GPU accelerate failure

As an editor who needs to produce video every week, there are two problems that always make me headaches.

First is the instability of estimated rendering time when using Hardware rendering setting, next is the notification of GPU acceleration failure often jumped out when video is about finishing its rendering.

Although I have no knowledge of programming, I would like to know if there is a chance that Premiere Pro can analyze the clips that require more calculations, and render these clips first. In this way, even if the GPU acceleration fails, I can be notified as soon as possible.…

  8. Please implement Metal GPU and RED SDK support in CC2020

Us pro editors that edit with RED footage are forced to go back to CC2019 because CC2020 is very problematic editing RED footage.
Heres an article pretty much confirming what us RED footage editors are experiencing in CC2020

  10. PP Multicam GPU Bug

The multicam program monitor goes blank when playback stops while in GPU assisted mode. As soon as I leave that mode, I get the stopped images as expected. Makes it extremely difficult to work. This is a new problem that I have not seen in any prior versions of the program.

When the program screen has just a single angle (non-multicam), it works fine. This is only a problem when Cuda cores are being used and in multicam view.

Footage is Canon C100 AVCHD footage (4 cameras currently)
Using an EVGA GTX1080Ti graphics card with the most recent drivers.
    Using…

  11. Some rendering bugs when using 'Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (Metal) Recommend'

Getting some flashing green/purple screens when rendering with 'Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (Metal) Recommend'. This also has some juddering. Have to currently render with 'Mercury Playback Engine Software Only' which has limitations with GPU and certain effects.

  13. Premiere artifacting possible GPU issue?

    Hello,

I've been having issues with Premiere for quite some time, that seem related to the GPU. My program monitor keeps glitching and giving me really crazy colours and artifacting. I've attached a few screenshots.

I'm using a MacBook Pro and have all my software up to date. The problem has shown in both Premiere 2020 and 2021.It also shows on both my external and built in monitor. I've reset PRAM and my SMC.

    Is this a known problem?

    Cheers,

    Ryan

...but I have Mercury Playback Engine turned on, why would it not render if it says it needs it and it is turned on? Please either render or say "cannot render, this is too complicated for your Quadro M6000"

  15. We're still hoping for multiple-GPU support for live playback for HD and 4K

On Mac I use Activity Monitor which continues to show the use of only one GPU for timeline playback, rendered or not.

My 2013 Mac Pro has two very fine Radeon D500's, each with 3GB cache.

  16. gpu render error "unable to process frames" linked to opacitiy keyframe being "on"

Several users on the U2U forum have reported having exports fail with the message "GPU render error" unable to process frames" with the typical time-code of the error.

But the only way to 'fix' this is to go into the Effects Control Panel, and check the blue watch key-frame icon so that it turns charcoal in the "off" setting.

Then their export exports properly. As in the following thread:

  17. Premiere Pro freezes when using GPU Accelerated renderer

Premiere Pro occasionally freezes when exporting a sequence using the GPU Accelerated renderer, on Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (9th gen). It never recovers (need to terminate the process). This has been going on since approximately version 21. How can we troubleshoot this?

  18. NVLink causing GPU crashes with Premiere Pro

    Hey,

I installed an NVLink connector for my 2x 3090s to use in my 3D workloads. I noticed a very consistent GPU crash "only" when using Premiere Pro with the attached setting turned on.

I now have to disable it each time I'm using Premiere Pro, which is very unintuitive imo since I use it for other work.

The crash makes my GPU fans stop spinning, and basically shut off my screens for several minutes.... then kicks me back to where I left off with a black preview window in my Premiere Pro.

I'm not asking for Premiere Pro to…

  19. opacity mask cuts too much off when gpu active

Since the last update, opacity mask cuts off the sides of the picture before I even do anything, and then cuts off too much if I try to use any mask. This does not occur when I turn the GPU off in the project, but that is unfeasible because the layers will not play properly without it.
