  1. Focus on making Premiere Pro a stable software.

Premiere Pro becomes less and less stable to work with. 2019 has seen the worst versions so far. It's already a running joke with EVERY single filmmaker I meet.

It's buggy, lagging and keeps crashing and wasting the time I should spend working for my client rather than trying to fix all kinds of things with crazy work-around solutions other Adobe customers come up with.

I'm dreaming of the day Premiere Pro is as stable as Photoshop but I guess I will have switched to DaVinci Resolve before that happens.

  3. Repair it, so it starts up, or give a descriptive message on MacOS Catalina

Still not able to use it...
Shows the splash screen, and then.... nothing.

Premiere Pro works great on Catalina; in order to figure out why it won’t launch on your system, we’d need to learn more about what has changed, since the last time PPro launched on your system.

Have you deinstalled previous installations, removing preferences, before installing?

  5. Feature To Check Imports For Corruption Or Incompatibility

After two days of multiple Premiere Pro version downloads, a complete computer factory reset, to try and remedy Premiere Pro from staggering and ultimately freezing the entire computer system.

Through process of elimination I discovered that an image file I had placed into the timeline as a green screen background was the issue causing a complete system crash, using McAfee to check for viruses, the file was clean.

It would be handy if Premiere Pro had a feature to scan each file to detect any corruption or incompatibility of imported files, I still don't know why the file was causing…

PPro already rejects any file which is too malformed for it to successfully import.

As you found, it’s definitely frustrating when a file is ‘good enough’ for initial import, but causes subsequent problems.

Rather than change PPro into a file format verification tool (which would be an enormous undertaking, given how many file format / codec combinations PPro supports), we’re focusing on failing more gracefully when problems are encountered. Ideally, a malformed still image shouldn’t lock up your whole system.

If you still have the problematic file, we’d be interested in seeing it (I reached out via email).

  6. 2020 BUG IS BACK - Can't Name or Rename a BIN

1/9/2020 I thought they had this fixed. Right click in various places along the bin's name in the media window. Text is faintly outlined but no highlight or edit cursor in the bin name. Maddening.. I figure to beat it at its own game I would CREATE a new bin, name it and move the stuff to this bin then clear the old, now empty bin. NOW it won't even let me assign a name... just comes up "bin". At least it doesn't crash PPro. At least that seems to have been fixed.

We can’t reproduce this behavior in current versions of PPro.

If you can reproduce the problem in current builds of PPro, please contact Support and provide step-by-step instructions on how to reproduce it; we’d be happy to help.

When I ever I select the File in the top menu area it crashes. Whenever I edit every 5 to 10 minutes it crashes.

  9. Since the CC 2019 update, Premiere randomly crashes several times a day.

I've been at work for about an hour and fifteen minutes today, and Premiere has crashed three times so far. I'm not asking a lot of the program, I'm just doing the workflow I've been doing for the last month. This is now worse than Final Cut Pro was when I switched to Premiere a decade ago. What am I gonna do now, switch to Vegas?

As Wes noted, there are some actions people can take to troubleshoot.

Of course, if you are still encountering specific crashes, feel free to report them with specific steps on how to reproduce them. Posts that say the app crashes aren’t actionable by the team especially when the thread describes multiple scenarios.

Crash logs are helpful especially in combination with reproducible steps and system information.

  10. MP4 files turn green/flicker and 'disintegrate' entirely or at random intervals (Mac)

Using PP v14.0.1 on Mojave 10.14.6. MP4 files which look perfectly good in the Finder turn green, green and purple, and or flicker and break up horribly in the Timeline. Same happens on export too.

  11. Glitches in exports? Another new issue. Whats going on? Example added.

Glitches in exports is wasting a lot of time, I have found the same issue on multiple systems. In premiere itself the video plays fine, in explorer the video plays fine but as soon as I export the video has glitches in. My software is up to date as well as my drivers. Running GTX 1080TI, I7 8700K 32Gb RAM. Windows. Rendering through software encoding solves the problem but now my renders takes 4 - 10 times longer, in terms a 45min episode normally exports 40 - 60 min. Software encoding the project exports 6 -12 hours. I don't have…

That looks like what would happen if a frame was unavailable for output at the time of render. If you have a project with media, and the output preset (.epr file) in use, please contact Support; we’d be happy to pursue the issue further.

  12. 13.4 highly unstable

Premiere 13.4 crashing regularly now - even a window resize or workspace tab select, even opening the import window can sometimes crash it. Cannot edit video now in earlier version. Very very unhappy, Adobe. Stability is the most precious thing to filmmakers - we have deadlines. Way more than latest features, frankly.

  15. LOCKUPS: THE MOVIE - I have had nothing but crashing and Finder lockups in Premiere Pro...

    Anybody see this...

Premiere Pro has turned into the most unstable software on my machine. I work in Premiere Pro CC2018 for a little while...all of a sudden the finder locks up (FINDER) and the machine quits or has to be forced shut down. Does not do that in any other Adobe software. At first I thought it was a computer issue so I got a fully loaded iMac Pro installed a few days ago with ALL NEW Adobe software installs...STILL CRASHING THE FINDER & Premiere Pro CC2018 while using the software. It is random... (iMac Pro 2017 / 3…

  17. MAKE YOUR PROGRAM STABLE!! WE'RE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR A PROGRAM THAT CRASHES NONSTOP

Who cares if this is not "actionable." Adobe, do you see how many requests you're getting to make Premiere stable? Even Philip Bloom called you out. It crashes constantly and for no apparent reason. Either stop charging us money for your bad programming or use our money to make your program better

We continue to address issues reported here on User Voice, and as that’s the only way to keep the conversation productive, I will indeed have to close this general statement as non-actionable. I’d like to encourage you to report on issues that you run into and enter single, actionable items instead.

Having that said, I hear you. We are taking action to address performance and quality issues and will continue to do so. A list of issues addressed with 12.1.2 is available here:
    https://helpx.adobe.com/ua/premiere-pro/kb/fixed-issues.html

    Issues addressed with 13.x:
    https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/kb/fixed-issues.html

As for comments on standardised hardware: we just added a couple of lines to the system requirements to show you what’s recommended vs. what’s the minimum:

This is a general statement for general purpose work – the higher you go on resolution, the more you use mixed input formats and not a dedicated format for ingest or proxies, the more…

  18. BUG discovered in Premiere v14

Hello, in Premiere v14, on a Mac with Catalina, if I try to hit the "L" key to play a clip faster, I crash with the spinning ball of death and a red error message in the corner.

    Premiere Pro requires Windows 10.

Also, there’s no in-application chat support.

If you can reproduce the problem in current builds of PPro, please contact Support and provide step-by-step instructions on how to reproduce it; we’d be happy to help.
