Alt-drag to replace clip/title on Timeline with another clip/title that's already ON THE TIMELINE
I would LOVE to be able to Alt-drag a clip or title from the TIMELINE onto another clip or title on the timeline to replace it! Being able to do this from the Project window or Source Monitor is great, but why not allow us to Alt-drag-replace a clip/title on the Timeline with another clip/title already on the Timeline? Seems like a very odd thing for Premiere Pro to be missing.
In order to decide which effects and Motion settings get preserved whenever both clips contain effects and/or motion settings, perhaps a second keyboard modifier could be introduced:
Alt-drag = Replace clip A with clip B but keep all attributes from clip A
Alt-Ctrl-drag (or Alt-Shift-drag) = Replace clip A with clip B, including clip B's attributes
Please make this feature work properly by respecting the In point of the clip being Alt-dragged. For example, if I replace Clip A by Alt-dragging Clip B over it, and Clip B has an In point set at 5:03 seconds, then that's the exact same In point it should have when replacing clip A.
Given the fact that Titles made in the Legacy Titler appear in the Project window, it has always been easy to replace one title with another using Alt-drag from the Project window. Since the LT is getting axed soon, it's more important than ever for this feature to be introduced since there is currently no way to Alt-drag one Essential Graphics title to replace another, since EG titles ONLY appear in the Timeline.

Right. The Alt+replace functionality was the main reason I chose to "upgrade" certain EGs to SGs in the first place ...only to find that feature to be absent.
I work with Source Graphics often because Premiere automatically converts LTs to SGs when an older project containing LTs is opened. And a good amount of my current work is based on the backbone of previous edits for the same clients.

You're right James, EG titles can indeed be upgraded to a Source Graphic and thus appear in the Project window. I never used that function so I had forgotten about it. Unfortunately, Source Graphics don't allow users to Alt-drag-replace as you mention.

Yes, any Essential Graphic can be converted ("upgraded") to a "Source Graphic"... which then lives in the project window--just as Legacy Titles used to.
So it seems that the Alt-drag option should be functionally possible with Source Graphics, though currently they do not support Alt-dragging.
