Premiere Pro version 22.2 lagging and performance issues
2019 macbook pro 16", i9, 32GB, AMD Radeon 5500M Pro, running Monterey 12.2.1. Using Premiere Pro version 22.2 and experiencing a full plate of absolutely horrific lags and glitches. This software is destroying my workflow. Here are some of the lags and bugs I am dealing with:
Dragging assets into project slow/laggy/sometimes doesn't work
Dragging assets onto sequence slows down entire software
Clicking in sequence multiple times with no repsonse
Clicking in project panels multiple times with no response
Clicking on tools multiple times with no response
option+drag to reproduce clips not always responsive
Lumetri color panel is especially laggy/slow to load previews during color correction
Audio panel is slow and sometimes unresponsive to changes/clicks
tools not available on first hover of clips, sometimes need to keep hovering over clips for several seconds before tools become available
This is all I could think of from today's ridiculous editing session. For a "professional" product, this is unacceptable. And before you suggest any of the old tried-and-true Adobe remedies, trust that I have tried them all.
Unistalled/Reinstalled Premiere Pro. Updated Mac OS to latest version. Cleaned all caches. Dumped all preferences. Reset the workspace. Turned it off and and turned it back on. Nothing will make the program responsive.
With so many NLEs to choose from, it may be time to ditch this laggy, buggy, expensive "pro" tool. My workflow simply cannot continue this way. Fix this Adobe, or you're going to start losing your longtime users.

I am experiencing the exact same lag as the user above stated. I don't have some insane pc or mac but am running it on a 2019 Macbook Pro 13” i7 with the 760m graphics. I can run this program fine on my lower end laptops editing in fhd. But it’s almost pointless to try anything on my mac. The lag is so bad if someone showed me this prior to me knowing it was adobe I would assume it is some bootleged trash 3rd party video editor. Extremely disappointed in adobe for having an issue like this being able to occur in 2022 is absolutely unbelievable. Will definitely be looking yo move over to Sony’s line of video editing products if this actually something that can not be fixed.

Hi Ryan,
It's possible you're experiencing the notorious Apple/Adobe issue with the 5500M graphics card - particularly if you're using your machine with external monitors attached.
There's a monster macrumors thread here:
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/2019-16-is-hot-noisy-with-an-external-monitor.2211747/page-231If this is indeed the case with your set-up, there's not much you can do - it seems it's an issue with graphic card drivers and updates from Apple (downgrading your system os won't help) and it's compounded by the way Adobe uses Metal.
One thing that offers mild improvement is if you go to your project/production settings and disable Metal (using CPU only). This comes with its own problems of course, but may improve your experience a bit.

I'm experiencing a slower Adobe too. No matter which version i'm using.
Opening projects is slow. Loading media (Yellow screen) is really slow.
I'm using a i9 9900KF and RTX3080Ti.But, i'm experiencing other issues too.
My whole Media Encoder/PP crashes when exporting a clip with the rotation effect applied to it. No matter what video or version. I've contact NVidia and they're saying Adobe's is at fault.
I'm experiencing this for 3 days now and i'm here just sitting with a over 3000$ PC and expensive software that is broken... Oh, and lot's of work to do...
