Paragraph text essential graphics
You are planning to remove the old title tool, yet Essential Graphics still cannot properly do the same things. I am trying to create a proper credit roll. I am clicking and dragging the text box to create a "paragraph text box." However, when I try to paste all my text into that box, it pastes the first part. As I drag the bottom of the box to include all the text, with every expansion of the text box, the graphics panel becomes less and less responsive. Can this be fixed before you delete the old title tool. What would have taken me a few minutes in the old title tool has now taken me 20 minutes, plus this letter, to still not properly be able to do a long form credit roll. I'm begging you! PLEASE make EG as functional as the old title tool.
This is running on a 6-core Windows Intel box with 32GB RAM and an nVidia GTX1080

With 15.4 we made rolls a lot faster for Essential Graphics.

Hi Todd -
If you are interested in trying out the Pr 15.4 Beta build, we have hopefully fixed the roll performance issues. I'm curious to see what you think.

Hi Todd -
We're looking into the performance issues, and expect to have some improvements there. But if you do use multiple text boxes, you can pin the boxes together vertically so that they reflow together, so that you don't need to manually realign everything if one gets longer or shorter.

Hi Mike,
Thanks. I do understand that. But one of the things I need (and I have to believe others do as well) is be able to copy and paste a credit list for a credit roll. And, if these are in separate layers, if I have to make a change to a credit roll (one that increases or decreases lines) I do not want to have to go back and re adjust all my layers for spacing, alignment, etc. I hope this makes sense. This is critical.
To better illustrate, Imagine I am doing a 200-300 - line credit roll for a feature film. Now, this information comes to me in a formatted word document. Previously, in the title tool, I could simply copy from the document and paste into a "paragraph" text box and the formatting would follow. Now, say I need to add about 12 lines to the credit roll, halfway through. Unless I am wrong, with EGP, I cannot easily do that.
In EGP, I could not have done it this simply in the first place, I would have had to paste the credit roll into SEVERAL layers to get all 200 to 300 lines of credits. Then, if I needed to add more lines, I would have had to shuffle all the layers below the addition down and re-align everything. With the old title tool, I could have simply pasted them in and dragged the size of the paragraph box down at the end of the roll to include the new lines. Is there a way to put this functionality into EGP or is there an easy way to do this 200 line credit roll in EGP that I am missing?
Thanks!

Hi Todd
Sorry that you are having problems here.
One significant difference between the legacy titler and the EGP for rolls is that the EGP will roll all of the layers together, whereas the legacy titler only rolls the single layer. This means you don’t need to put all of your text in a single layer in the egp roll. You can use a few layers top to bottom if you are seeing performance problems with a single giant text box. This is also the easiest way to do multiple columns in a roll. And you can also include shape and clip layers.

Alright. I tried and tried. And, with the long text list, the box became SO unresponsive, I HAD to switch to the old title tool just so I could finish the show in time for broadcast.
