Would be very handy if "Split Segment" would just split your caption at cursor position instead of creating two duplicates.
- User places the text cursor at the desired split point of a long caption segment.
- User presses Split Segment button.
- Premiere splits the segment into two segments, with the break point being where the cursor was positioned at the time they clicked the split segment button.
Thanks!

Basically, it could work just like the transcript does. Highlight the word, click split, it creates two. Now, it creates THREE? And the last one is just a few frames. Why?

SPLIT CAPTION AT CURSOR or SPLIT CAPTION AT SELECTION by default!

Yep, Having the option to split the caption right where your cursor is would be ideal. There could be two options: Split at cursor position & at playhead position in timeline. Split at cursor position and manually adjust timing of newly created caption. The way it works now makes no sense and it doesn't even make sense why the .srt creates these massive captions sometimes.

Agreed, this would make a lot more sense. Splitting seems more like a hard return or page break, not duplicating.

Also, the split caption doesn't automatically scroll the caption list to the newly created caption. I feel I'm having to manually scroll after splitting the caption to then edit the text.

Yes, I definitely agree -- moreover, if you could the caption text is split where the text cursor is positioned and the caption clip is split where the playhead is positioned that would be a huge time saver! Of course, this would require an option to enable/disable the playhead automatically jumping to the head of the caption when you click on a caption -- or perhaps allow you to set the text cursor on screen in the sequence monitor.
