Bug - Premiere Pro 15.0 using 100% CPU usage to load thumbnails and causing instability
Premiere Pro is hanging my system - 100% CPU usage when generating thumbnails in bin. Eventually it will go back down to normal usage, but if I try to do other things while this is populating it may cause my computer to BSOD. Last BSOD (this morning) was KERNELSECURITYCHECK_FAILURE
I should note that my system has 0 stability issues doing anything else except when using Premiere Pro.
This just started after the last update to Premiere Pro (15.0)-
This does not happen with 14.9
I am able to recreate the hanging and or crash by opening a folder and generating thumbnails.
This happens with 4K timelines, 1080 timelines and with 4K footage, and 1080 footage.

Yes, 15.2 has fixed the issue - and the new update to Encoder also fixed an issue where WMV files were failing to export.

@nic SMT is enabled here. I didn't change any settings. Tested 15.1 just the other day and still had the CPU spike issue. I didn't even have to clear cache and 15.2 is running great so far!

@michael 15.2 works for me as well, but I also turned off SMT before I updated so I wasn't sure what actually fixed the issue. Do you have SMT enabled?

Just installed and tested PP 15.2 and it seems to have completely fixed the CPU spike when importing media/loading thumbnails on my Threadripper 3960x! Program is stable and running extremely smooth for me.

Just for testing - yes this still occurs after the new Nvidia Studio driver update today.

Anyone know if this was fixed in 15.1?

Same Exact issue here with Threadripper 3960x... No problems on 14.9.

Same issues on 3970x threadripper. Once I install 14.9 everything works great

Edit - this only happens with version 15.0, NOT 14.9. 15.0 is causing 100% CPU usage to generate thumbnails and throttling machine and causing hangs. 14.9 will use 30% of CPU and create the thumbnails almost immediately.
Edit - further testing with a brand new project leads to more CPU 100% usage and hangs when even closing the project trying to clear the cache - https://youtu.be/Y_fRAJiNh9g
Update - I tried uninstalling 15.0 - manually deleting the entire cache folder, rebooting Windows, reinstalling 15.0Same issues - hanging 100% CPU usage. Closed it down, opened 14.9 no issues at all, very fast thumbnail creation and very low CPU usage.
