Captions to Essential Graphics titles conversion
Open captions are becoming increasingly popular in online video and social media, with a lot of different styles employed to make videos stand out.
For example, different colours or fonts per user, per-title animations, transitions between the titles, and unusual positions based on who is speaking.
This is not currently possible with the captioning tool, which restricts your ability to edit titles within the capabilities of the caption format you are working in.
Instead, users have to rely on third-party tools to convert a caption file to graphics or titles; or have to manually create Essential Graphics titles for each caption, unable to take advantage of the better text-entry and title timing workflow available in the caption tool or the upcoming automatic transcription feature.
Further, while some welcome changes have been made to the 2021 captioning tools, it's broken some 'workarounds' that users previously made use of to allow them to position and manipulate titles outside of the restrictions of the captioning workspace as the titles are no longer an editable 'clip'.
Having a feature to convert captions directly into Essential Graphics titles will open up the possibility for much more fine control over burned-in captions by allowing them to be edited with the Essential Graphics features on a per-title basis; while still giving users the high-speed workflow of the captioning system for the initial creation of the captions.

I agree, I would like to see this feature. I just spent all of this time captioning just to learn that I can't apply any of the effects that I'd like to my captions and I have no way to convert. I'll have to burn more hours retyping everything.

I totally aggree.
I created custom workflows which addressed several of those points you addressed.
My little tool(s) used XML to toggle between Essential Graphics & SRT (or others).
Now with the current beta both Essential Graphics, XML are broken (or replaced & missing).
While I had been happy with earlier versions the current version seems to be pretty useless – not only for me but also for several others I'm working with
