Allow iXML metadata to display as part of audio clip name
Dear Adobe,
I have seen that Premiere Pro can already read into iXML metadata on audio files for quite some time now. This is however buried fairly deep into the metadata panel where it is of no real use to video editors working with these kind of files.
Audio engineers on set often add useful information about the different channels (which tracks are which lavaliers, boom, etc.), which is very useful information for audio post-production. As picture editors we often do a first pass on audio tracks/layout or even finish audio in Premiere Pro altogether. Being able to see this information layed out on our audio clip names (in the timeline) would benefit this kind of work greatly. Saving us time spent on soloing tracks to identify the audio source and allowing for faster organization and grouping of tracks.
To serve as a good example of what I mean, you can see this implented in one of your peer software, DaVinci Resolve (screenshot).

This should be really easy. The reason it doesn’t have more votes is, I would say, that everyone has just gotten used to using their ears when working with audio. But for any tv and film with with multiple radio mics plus booms this is a game changer. Also, this is a feature in Resolve and FCP. Even Avid has it in a much easier way, but not in the timeline yet.

We edit big reality show for TV right now. Lack of this function cost us a lot of additional work hours for assistant editor. Producers don't like it.

Yes yes yes please add this functionality! I've just had to go over to Resolve and import my audio to check what channel was what, as there was no sound report with the rushes.
In Resolve each track in the wav file is labelled MixL Mix R Boom Side.
In Premiere the labels are Ch1 Ch2 Ch3 Ch4.See photo :)

Could anyone share audio files with iXML ?

This is desperately needed - It's one of the main reasons several of the drama editors I know will not even consider using Premiere to cut for TV or film

I third this request.
As a Post audio mixer sending Poly BWFs to editors using Premiere it's really annoying they cannot see the metadata in the bin or timeline. This causes slowdowns in the workflow and confusion for the editor. -

Dear Adobe -- as a professional Post Production Supervisor on network television shows, I would second the request to show iXML data from audio files in the bin view in Premiere Pro. It's something that Avid MC has done for years, FCP does, Resolve does. It's very basic information about channel assignments on poly wav files that is essential to editing.

Hi Merlin,
Could you share some audio files that have this metadata ?
Thanks!
