Blocker Bug - Choppy Playback on most speedramps
Hey Adobe team, been reading all these posts here on similar problems I have with CC 2020 - seems like the advice you're posting is to create your own post so here it goes:
Like most others here... Playback in 2020 is abysmal. It only takes a minor speed ramp adjustment to completely brick your timeline, with the only option to render. And that is certainly not an efficient process.
In a lot of circumstances It may only takes one clip with a basic change to kill playback, eg:
- a 150% speed
- Reversed Clip
- Or Speedramp / Time Remapping clip to completely brick the timeline
With no other effects/editing etc.
This is with a simple 1080p clip & sequence. 24/30/50/100 FPS it seems to all suffer the same problem. And yes H264 so yes I know its a 'tougher' file format to work with.. but regardless.. like most others we have the equipment to back it up, for a simple clip effect/time change like that... we know Premiere can handle it... well, 2019 premiere could.
And like most other people here, it seems most of us have built PC's that are somewhat built for the occasion. So I am another AMD 3900X, 2080ti GPU, 64gb Ram, SSD drive, SSD scratch disk kind of user.... and well there is no other way to put it.. the performance with this new version is simply abysmal.
And even with task manager open, nothing is crippling the the components they are all operating well within their safe range with plenty of processing power left over. This really does feel like a software issue.
This feature is certainly going to add up to a lot in wasted time and is certainly not good for enterprise's as well, I would encourage others to submit a bug report for this issue also.
Just doing my bit to hopefully get Adobe to notice and patch this properly.
Thanks for reading and please resolve this bug for your users.
