slow file menu
Anyone have an idea why, when I click the File menu, it takes at least 5 seconds to open? The Export sub-menu also takes 5 seconds.
Premiere Pro v14.3.2
Dell Precision 7750
Quadro RTX 5000 16GB VRAM
@Pat Finnegan - Nice workaround. Thanks.

Adobe should really do something about this, and my fix confirms that it's a glitch that's been going on for quite a while. Here's the fix that worked for me.
Short answer if you just want the fix:
Edit>Preferences>Devices: Change Devices selection to "None."
Longer answer (in case Adobe can use this to finally fix the issue):
I had a feeling it might have something to do with enumerating disks or other devices before the menu opens. Eventually, I went to Edit>Preferences>Devices to see what settings were available and there wasn't much. I don't use a capture device so I set Devices to "None." To my great joy, that fixed the issue. Here's the weird thing though. I went to document my solution and noticed that the change didn't "take." The Devices setting was back to [Path]HDV Device Control. But the File menu issue was still resolved. The resolution remained persistent after a restart of Premiere and seems permanent, at least for now.

Yes, this issue is pervasive. Please fix the file menu. Been like this forever it seems
This problem still hasn't been fixed in v15.
Only way to avoid it is to focus the project panel before choosing the file menu.
Only happens when a sequence panel or the program monitor panel has focus. If any other panel (project for instance) has focus, the file menu responds without delay.
Nope, spoke too soon. The same problem is back again.
Time will tell, but I think the 14.4.0 update may have fixed the issue.
