RAW to LOG conversions for ProRes RAW
ProRes RAW has been implemented inside of Premiere now but it is cumbersome. My workflow remains the same as before support has been added where I need to conform my footage to LOG inside of FCPX and then import that to Premiere. This makes all the work that went into implementing ProRes RAW into Premiere useless to me because I still have the same workflow as before.
I am suggesting taking an approach like FCPX where in the clip options there be a selector for “RAW to LOG Conversion” that allows you to conform the linear footage that ProRes RAW is into a more traditional LOG file.
This would make it exponentially easier to handle.
Looks like this has been implemented in the 14.5 beta: https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-beta/discuss-prores-raw-raw-to-log-conversion-support/m-p/11413274?page=1#M850

This is something that would be incredibly handy. I have a few different LUTS that I like to use whilst shooting on my FS7II, would be great if I could get my RAW footage to look like my LOG footage so that I could then use a similar work flow with the LUTS that I use whilst not shooting RAW.
This appears to be easily done on FCPX but I work on Premiere Pro and just want to get RAW footage to a similar starting point as my SLog3/S-Gamut3.cine when it comes to Grading.
According to the Apple white paper, one of the big benefits of shooting ProRes RAW is that you can easily match LOG formats from other cameras. Without a RAW to LOG conversion, this isn't possible and nearly defeats the purpose of ProRes RAW support.
Also, here is a link to a video that explains the workflow within FCPX. It is very easy to work with ProRes RAW in FCPX.
This is an example of what is needed inside FCPX in order to work with the footage. It's as simple as dropping it into the project, selecting a version of LOG from a dropdown and you're done.
It handles everything... it takes the RAW linear footage and conforms it to a more familiar LOG workspace.

Would you have an example before / after ?
